"The Onryo that lost its life after being caught in the photo book "The Temptation of Pink". The thoughts contained in the book are shown in pink, and the sickle at the tip of the hand cuts them."

Binkichi (Japanese: ビンキチ Binkichi) is the deceased pet frog of Kinya Daiouji and Emma Daiouji introduced in Y School Heroes.

Binkichi has an Onryo form, Kamagaeru (Japanese: カマガエール Kamagaeru).

Biology[]

Binkichi is a green frog with pink cheeks, jaw and cream belly.

Kamagaeru is a magenta giant frog with brown markings, with pink eyes with dark blue irises and yellow corneas. They has a navy blue tongue, their hands are metal scythes whose wrists have a circle of green color, has a pink belly that below has an eye mark of their respective colors.

The arms are on chains and can extend, but its durability, like most Onryo, is rather poor, as a single strike from Kengo Benimaru was enough to take it out. That said, it was able to react to and catch Kengo Benimaru off-guard initially with a block, and has a prehensile tongue.

Profile[]

Kamagaeru can be found in the northern area of the academy.

In the anime[]

At some point prior to the series, Binkichi escaped a biology class to avoid getting dissected. It runs into Kinya in the halls, who kept it as a pet. However, Binkichi was unintentionally killed when Kinya tried to hastily hide a lewd photo album he was reading from his daughter, getting squished between the pages.

Wanting to meet him again, the frog possessed the book and made it always come back to Kinya, much to his chagrin due to its existence tarnishing his reputation. By the events of episode 13, Kinya had enough and requested Jinpei, Sandayu, Mataro and Mera to get rid of it. Due to interference from Fubuki and Emma, they failed to do so when the book got possessed by one of Haruhiko's hair strands and manifested Kamagaeru.

Kamagaeru fought against Kengo Benimaru, Shishi O and Ninetail, but was defeated when the latter 2 held down its sickle arms, allowing the former to defeat it.

Etymology[]

"Kamagaeru" derives from (Japanese: ガマガエル Gamagaeru, "Toad") and (Japanese: Kama, "Sickle").

Trivia[]

  • In Y School Heroes, Binkichi and Kamagaeru are both voiced by Mari Hino.
  • Binkichi's backstory is rather similar to that of Shadowside Komajiro, as both are frogs who lived with a human and got killed by accident and lack of attention.
