Nate begins to cough and tells Whisper he doesn't have a cold but can't stop coughing. Nate turns to Whisper and notices he's even more ill than he is. The two of them hear coughing and look at a line of people by a bus stop who are all coughing too. Nate wonders if there's something going around but Whisper quickly reminds him it must be a Yo-kai. He sees Coughkoff who has a bowl of tingle germs. He states that anyone who inhales them will get a sore throat. Nate calls him a nuisance which Coughkoff is upset by as he thought he was helping. Coughkoff cries out, spreading more germs in frustration. He chastises Nate for coughing on other people but Nate tells him he's the one causing it. Nate decides to summon Jibanyan to help. Jibanyan appears and explains he's practicing his dance moves for his victory dance. He asks the others to practice together but Nate tells Jibanyan to deal with Coughkoff. Coughkoff explains that he only makes people's throat hurt so that they'll realise to take better care of themself. Jibanyan is moved by his words and hugs Coughkoff but gets stabbed by his spikes. Coughkoff uses his germs on Jibanyan to get him off him. Jibanyan complains and Nate asks why he's being so prickly all of a sudden. Jibanyan is revealed to have transformed into Thornyan. Nate asks Coughkoff what he's done to Thornyan but he doesn't know either. Coughkoff is surprised his germs could transform someone and realises its why he's so prickly himself.
Thornyan continues to complain but attacks Coughkoff still anyway. However, since Coughkoff is spiked, Thornyan hurts his hands. Coughkoff makes his thorns bigger and strikes at Thornyan. Thornyan uses Whisper as a shield between them then throws the both of them into a wall. Thornyan then strikes both of them with the thorns on his head. Coughkoff gives up while Whisper and Thornyan fight between themselves. Nate states that he understands Coughkoff's motive and says he can keep going, though only a little bit. Coughkoff continues to sprinkle his germs but Nate says it's too much already. They then become friends and Coughkoff gives Nate his medal. Jibanyan pipes up - in his original form - and they do their victory dance together.
