City Licker's eyes have pale yellow sclera and golden irises instead of eyes with black sclera and having a red pupil. His eight tongues are golden-yellow instead of blue. The underbelly is now a lilac purple color. At the end of his tail, instead of having a black and blue rattle shaped like an 8, he has a light bulb. In the anime[]
City Licker appeared in EP160 where he Inspirited Nate’s friend Eddie on the phone, making him gain a New Yorker accent. The next day, still Inspirited, Eddie plays baseball and calls the town Springdale the “country” incorrectly. After being revealed, Nate attempts to summon Jibanyan, but City Licker’s sparkling lights from the city on his head give the cat Yo-kai large sunglasses. Then Nate attempts with Komasan who the Legendary Yo-kai calls a “country bumpkin“. He also says the country is just some dumb fields, forest, mountains, and rivers but the country dog recounts a beautiful day catching insects in the forest. The Legendary Yo-kai recounts his origins playing tag in a field with what resembles ‘Merican Yo-kai but then moved to the city, implying that his name isn’t what he was actually known (he might be a type of Noko). Inspired by this, he takes off all his decorations, gives Nate his medal, and bounces to his home.
Etymology[]
- "Jimanhattan" is a portmanteau of jiman (自慢, brag in Japanese), and Manhattan (city in New York).
- "City Licker" is a portmanteau of "city slicker" ("one accustomed to a city or urban lifestyle") and "lick."
- "Urbasierpe" is a portmanteau of "urbano" (urban) and "sierpe" (snake).
- "Metropolyglossa" is a portmanteau of "metropolis" and "Polyglossa" (Slurpent).
- "Lodalurbe" is a portmanteau of "lodato" ("Praised") and "l'urbe" ("the city").
- "Mégalopaul is a corruption of "mégalopale" ("megalopolis" or "megacity").
Trivia[]
- City Licker's "random" nicknames are Slick, Metrokai, Severus, and Neutron.
- His random nickname Neutron is a reference to his nickname "Jimmy" (deranged from his Japanese name), which fans gave him due to a bug in Blasters 2 making him annoyingly impossible to beat. This lead to a subtle "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" reference.
