Dressed-up Whisper (Japanese: ８頭身ウィスパー, 8 Tōshin Wisupā) is a Rank SS Yo-kai of the Slippery tribe introduced in Yo-kai Watch 2.

Biology[]

Dressed-up Whisper is a variant of Whisper who is shown to have a slender humanoid body. He wears a black suit, which is overlapped on a white button-up shirt. He also wears grey pants with black stripes, and a blue bow-tie on his button-up shirt.

Yo-kai Watch 2[]

Though Dressed-up Whisper can't be befriended, a picture of him appears on Whisper's business card when selecting a travel companion. Presumably, he is just treated as Whisper, but dressed-up.

Yo-kai Watch 3[]

Dressed-Up Whisper appears at the end of the quest The Man You Can Never See, where it's revealed that he's the mysterious Tuxedo Man of urban legend, though he initially thinks otherwise. He explains to Nate that he'd been attending many Yo-kai parties and decided to dress up for them. He also tells him that the party he's about to attend is so important he's taking his Yo-kai Medal with him, but he drops it upon leaving.

Much like his cameo in Yo-kai Watch 2, he is treated as Whisper but dressed up, as you gain regular Whisper's Medal at the end.

Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble[]

Dressed-up Whisper was the in second hidden stage of the Whisper Slingshot Battle event map "Ultra Whisper Festival." In the Japanese version, he was later made occasionally available through certain event Crank-a-kai and Dream Roulette events. He is also present in the "SS Select-A-Coin" that was made available in Japan in July 2017.

Etymology[]

"8 Tōshin Wisupā" translates to "8 Head-Body Whisper," referencing the ideal of beauty where one's body is exactly eight times the height of one's head.

"Dressed-up Whisper" is a simple reference to the fact that he is Whisper, dressed up.

Trivia[]

One of his animations in Yo-kai Watch 3's The Man You Can Never See quest has him looking at his wrist as though he's checking the time, implying he wears a watch. However, no such watch is visible on his model nor his official art.
Dressed-up Whisper (in Yo-kai Watch 3) is most likely a reference to the Creepypasta character, Slenderman. Dressed-up Whisper is described as being tall, wearing black clothes, and with a pale face, just like Slenderman. People are also said to lose their lives if they see Dressed-up Whisper's face, and people who see the Slenderman's face are said to become mad and/or die. (There are many interpretations of Slenderman and his abilities on the internet).
Dressed-up Whisper was used to represent Futaru Uesugi in the Fable: The Quintessential Quintuplets collaboration (Japanese: 寓・五等分の花嫁コラボ, Gū go-tōbun no Hanayome Korabo) map during the The Quintessential Quintuplets Collaboration" Event in Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble.
