Trivia[]

  • The logo for Manjimutt's film is a parody of the Universal Studios logo.
  • Manjimutt etching a map of the prison on his tummy is a reference to the 2005 American drama series Prison Break, where the main character named Michael Scofield puts a tattoo of the prison's blueprints that covers his entire stomach and arms.
  • "Yo-Lo Watch 2" is an obvious parody of Yo-kai Watch 2.
  • Both the Yuppie and Bubble eras were a period of economic prosperity in both America and Japan during the 1980s.
  • A communist is someone who supports the economic/political system of Communism, characterized by the complete dominance of the economy by the state.
    • This goes along with Spenp's background. The Cold War was still going on during the 1980s, which was a battle for cultural and ideological domination between the United States and the Soviet Union.
  • Pretty Woman is a movie from 1990, that was still made during the late 80's.
  • "Trickle-down economics" is a economic theory where by giving tax breaks to the rich, the retained money would be reinvested into the economy and eventually result in overall economic growth.
  • Katie holding a barbecue would later be referenced in EP132, where Nate actually visits it in the episode.
  • This is the last episode of the Yo-kai Watch anime franchise to air in its initial slot on Wednesday nights at 7:00 P.M. across the TV Tokyo networks before moving to air on Fridays for the rest of its run.

Dub Differences[]

  • In the original version, it was a monthly comic Nate, Eddie and Bear were about to buy. As such, the books were edited as a box.
  • Whisper asks Nate if he bought a lot of toilet paper due to him eating burritos, which was added in the dub.
  • Whisper saying that he's checking that if the wiki is still using his "knowledge" was added in the dub.
  • Eddie says the totem pole is going in his bedroom in the original, while the English dub says he'll take it everywhere he goes.
  • Spenp calls Nate a communist in the dub.
  • He tells Nate and Whisper that wasting money is fun, while the dub states it's how trickling economics works.
  • Whisper in the original states that Spenp is from the Bubble era, while the dub states he's from the Yuppie era.
    • Whisper saying about "Pretty Woman" and DeLoreans, and Spenp talking about Armani and Swatch watches were added in the dub.
  • The prize vendor states the comics/game was the special prize in the original, while the dub is third prize.
  • In the Japanese version, the trailer for Manjimutt: The Great (Dog) Escape includes certain text cards in-between comments from the audience. These are left out of the English dub.

Errors[]

  • When Komasan walks towards the turnstile, his head is drawn bigger than usual.
