Gourmet School Lunch: Meal 4 Fried Chicken! (Japanese: 給食のグルメ 第4話「唐揚げ」,Kyūshoku no Gurume Dai-Yon-Wa "Karaage"), Yo-kai Shmoopie (Japanese: 妖怪キュン太郎,Yōkai Kyuntarō) and Yo-kai Yoink (Japanese: 妖怪かりパックン,Karipakkun) is the 41st episode of the Yo-kai Watch anime series. It was originally aired on October 24, 2014 in Japan and was broadcasted in America on September 24, 2016.
Nate talks about fried chicken while he tries to consume every bite. The Yo-kai Shmoopie makes Katie all love-sick, causing her to get away with her misbehavior and be forgiven. The Yo-kai Yoink possesses Nate's dad and Bear, making them "borrow" things without returning them.
The scene where Nate imagines the fried chicken being trading cards is a reference to the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.
The video game Nate plays on his handheld is called DeTAMoN Hunter, which is a parody of Monster Hunter.
It is revealed that Manjimutt’s disgust level is so strong, it cancels out Shmoopie’s cuteness abilities.
Dub Differences[]
Chicken karaage was changed to fried chicken.
During the Recap Time segment, Whisper keeps asking Shmoopie for a favor but gets cut off every time in the original. This was changed to Whisper asking for a kiss in the English dub, to which Shmoopie refuses both times.
Errors[]
In the English dub, Manjimutt still speaks during the scene wherein Shmoopie first uses his power on him, albeit the animation showing that Manjimutt had no lines at that moment.
