Hangin' With Mr. Crabbycat: Lesson 2 (Japanese: ３年Y組ニャンパチ先生 第二話,San-nen Wai-gumi Nyanpachi-sensei Dai-Ni-Wa), Every Cold Has Its Thorn(yan) (Japanese: 風邪とともにトゲニャン,Kaze to Tomo ni Togenyan) and Yo-kai Sandmeh (Japanese: 妖怪砂夫,Yōkai Sunao) is the 45th episode of the anime series. It was broadcasted in Japan on November 21, 2014, and in the United States on October 29, 2016.
After some exercise, Jibanyan has come down with a cold and somehow been turned into Thornyan, a cat Yo-kai with spines that shoot out whenever he sneezes. At Eddie's birthday party, he becomes possessed by the honesty sand Yo-kai Sandmeh.
The scene when Thornyan sneezes out the spikes while the camera moves all over is a reference to the film The Matrix.
Eddie turns 11 years old in this episode.
In Recap Time, Whisper and Thornyan are tied up with a stack of dynamite in front of them, in the same vein as the Continue Screen from the 1989 video game Final Fight.
Dub Differences[]
The personalities of the Fruitnyans were changed for all Mr. Crabbycat segments. They were serious in the original while they're more laid-back in the dub.
The scene where Nate and Whisper debate on which pills to use to cure Thornyan's cold was cut. This is most likely due to the references of drug use.
In Spain, the scene of Whisper being hit by one of Blazion-inspirited Thornyan's thorns was cut due to regarding violence.
Errors[]
When the camera pans to show both Mr. Crabbycat and Watermelnyan at the table, Watermelnyan's right tail can be seen clipping through the side of his uniform.
