Yo-kai New Series Conference: Whisper's 100th Marriage Proposal[]

At the office in the television station, Whisper is frustrated at the others that they don't approve of his many different ideas which are all Whisper-related shows. After being frustrated at Jibanyan's uninterested response, Whisper presents another idea which is about him going through many different proposals. Whisper suddenly throws a fit when no one takes interest in his idea, but Komasan reluctantly develops a curiosity in it.

After pressing the play button, the series is about a Whisper-faced man who is destined to fall in love with his 100th girlfriend after 99 failed attempts. Inside a tatami house, Whisper notices a handsome girl (who also has the face of Whisper) and feels a sense of a destined meeting, hoping to fall in love with her. Jibanyan suddenly turns off the television and angrily asks why the female character is played by Whisper, with Whisper saying that the person who wanted to play the role didn't attend as well as Komasan showing Whisper the many rejected letters from various actresses he tried to hire.

Whisper surprisingly finds out that the others knew about his spin-off series being a "big secret", but tries to make him change their minds by playing another clip from the television pitch. The main character is shown in the middle of a city in front of another Whisper-shaped woman, which he claims that he will do anything to earn her love showing him trying to foolishly stop a truck by standing right in front of it.

Jibanyan turns off the television again and asks the same question about the lack of roles, as well as Komasan showing the letters of rejection from everyone else who were asked about them in the same manner. In a last-ditch atttempt, Whisper shows them another clip except it's the emotional climax where the main protagonist exchange rings at the wedding ceremony full of Whisper-shaped humans.

Just as when the antagonist suddenly steps in and crashes the wedding, Jibanyan abruptly turns off the television and puts all of the discs containing Whisper's television pitch into the paper shredder. Whisper frustratingly asks why he's doing it, with Jibanyan responding that they cannot allow a series like that to be shown on public television. Yo-kai Repossessor suddenly appears and eventually sucks Whisper inside, showing that he's been rejected.

Uncover! Usapyon's Secret[]

While Hailey excitedly watches an episode of Sailor Cuties about the main characters stopping some illegal weapon dealers, she tries to convince Usapyon to watch it with her, but he is too tired and dozes off to sleep. Later when she goes to sleep, she is awakened by the light from the doorway that was opened and notices that Usapyon had gone missing from his usual sleeping spot.

The next day, Hailey asks Usapyon where he had been but he worriedly tries to hide the truth (as Yo-kai Terrorpotta makes him act nervous) and goes over to the bathroom to wash his face covered in sweat from the nervousness. The reaction from Usapyon makes Hailey suspicious of him, and decides to investigate his doings out of excitement.

Later at night when Hailey goes to bed, Usapyon decides to check on her so she is fully asleep. His questioning didn't seem to be wenough, so he impersonates as Whisper by taking off his helmet and drawing a brow and mouth on his face, while Hailey tries to hide her laughter from him. Usapyon assumes that Hailey had drifted off to sleep and decides to walk out of the room.

It turns out that Hailey was awake all along and almost burst out into laughter from Usapyon's impersonation, and goes on to carry out her investigation on him. Soon, Hailey silently follows Usapyon into town by hiding in many different corners as possible and posing as other people while Usapyon looks around to see anybody suspicious following him.

Hailey goes into a dark alleyway where Usapyon had gone, and notices that Poofessor had been giving Usapyon a briefcase with unknown contents inside of it. The suspicious manner of them giving the stuff away shocks Hailey, reminding her of the Sailor Cuties episode she saw the other day of the illegal arms dealers. Hailey's audible mumbling was enough to get Usapyon and Poofessor's attention, much to their anger and hides in the corner when the Yo-kai turn their backs.

When they both question who is there, Hailey impersonates as Jibanyan which was enough to change their attention, and they both walk away. Hailey gets overthinks once again of Usapyon turning bad and ending up like the galactic mafia she saw on Sailor Cuties, but decides to investigate further.

Usapyon makes his way to a junkyard, where Hidabat brought his closet there. After he gives the password, Hidabat gives Usapyon a newspaper-wrapped package promising Hidabat that he doesn't want any involvement in the exchange. Hailey watches the events unfold from the distance, before she follows Usapyon all the way to a harbor where he is apparently storing the packages he collected.

Hailey starts to assume that Usapyon had turned bad and is using the materials he collected to create a weapon that wipes out the planet Earth and its human inhabitants, taking notes from villains' generic destinies in other media. Thinking that it's her chance to shine, she rushes into the warehouse to expose Usapyon's moral alignment and intentions with the packages once and for all.

Inside the warehouse, Usapyon comically decides to unpack the supplies in an evil manner before Hailey comes in and impersonates the Sailor Cuties' motto, which makes Usapyon feel shocked and awkward at her imaginative fantasies. As Hailey declares Usapyon as evil and tries to stop him, she suddenly notices some model kits of a mechanical robot which she wanted the other day after she browsed it on Usapyon's Yo-kai Pad, and got them all the parts as a gift.

While Hailey questions if Usapyon is really acting that way, Usapyon stops her from being suspicious of him and expresses his friendship and gratitude towards her, which was why he wanted to get the model kits. After Usapyon thanks Hailey, she thanks him back for all the fun times Hailey had with him and decide to build the model kit together.

In the middle of cutting out the plastic parts, Hailey scolds Usapyon for cutting them off wrong, warning that he may accidentally cut off a piece if he cuts the runner instead of the gate. Her frustration escalates when she notices that Usapyon cut off too much of the other parts, leaving chipped holes in the assembled parts. After wishing that she could have done it herself, Usapyon goes into Invader Mode from Hailey's rude criticism and shoots lasers all over her.

Yo-kai Lord Shrillington[]

In class, Nate tries to replace his pencil lead in a deeply-concentrated manner due to it being the last one while Whisper questions him about that, but Mr. Johnson suddenly startles him by asking Nate to solve a maths question. He also shrieks, which makes the other classmates laugh at him, especially Katie much to Nate's embarrassment.

When Whisper explains about Nate's unexpected shriek in class, Nate regretfully thinks about it while Whisper tries to comfort him and further explain about it. Eddie gets Nate's attention, which makes him shriek again causing a humorous chain reaction to his friend Bear and eventually Katie.

Later on, Nate concludes that his shrieking is of a Yo-kai's responsibility, despite Whisper trying to doubt his suspicions and finds Yo-kai Lord Shrillington with his Yo-kai Watch Dream. After Whisper explains about Lord Shrilington's doings, Nate asks the Yo-kai why he is being inspirited where Lord Shrillington goes on to explain his backstory.

Lord Shrillington was originally an English gentleman named Sir Charleston, where one day, his lover shrieked from seeing a frog cross the path. After Charleston says to her that he never shrieked, it prompts his lover to try and scare him by trying to pull the dining chair in his place, putting that same frog in his face and by making a hole in the ground. None of the attempts worked until she dumps Charleston for somebody else, making him shriek loudly to the point of costing his life, and thus becoming a Yo-kai.

Nate and Whisper feel sad about Lord Shrillington's backstory, but the Yo-kai uses his staff to make Nate shriek constantly as part of his plan to make everybody else shriek. Nate manages to summon Jibanyan, despite him shrieking but they twist his way of talking further when Nate attempts Jibanyan orders. Lord Shrillington uses his staff again to make Jibanyan shriek constantly, and leaves the area after he successfully stops them from taking action. Without any options left, Nate and Jibanyan decide to ask Whisper to look up Lord Shrillington's weakness on his Yo-kai Pad and manages to find an option.

Soon, Lord Shrillington notices a cafe where he didn't know that such a place existed. While he sits at the table, Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan watch him from a camera. It's revealed that the cafe is actually created by Illoo's illusion-shifting power, while Whisper explains that the plan should be enough to make Lord Shrillington shriek. He asks Blizzaria, dressed as a maid to give him some black tea but realizes that the tea is being poured from an unexpectedly high height by Yo-kai Humtea Jumtea. Whisper hopes that the moment would be enough to shock him, but it doesn't work.

For their next plan, they convince Yo-kai Bruff to share a table with him hoping that the glare with a tough-looking customer would be enough to scare Lord Shrillington, but Bruff steps up by getting closer to his face making him sweat until Blizzaria comes to take Bruff's order. When he places his order of a drink with many unusual details, Lord Shrillington spits out his tea, trying his best to hide the shriek.

Soon, Lord Shrillington orders a chocolate parfait, but gets surprise of suspense when Yo-kai Lazy Sundae is brought to the table and rises even more when Bruff's order of lemonade turns out to be Yo-kai Zest-a-Minute inside a glass. Lord Shrillington notices the unusual surroundings of the cafe until he eventually finds the hidden camera watching him.

When he goes to mock Nate, Jibanyan and Whisper for his attempts to make him shriek, the three suddenly try to admit defeat only for their faces to be completely blank, finally making Lord Shrillington shriek in fear with help from Yo-kai Faysoff. When Nate asks Faysoff to give back their faces, he rejects the offer at first making them all scared but tricks them in the end.

Trivia[]

  • The scenes in Whisper's pitch for a pilot are references to The 101st Marriage Proposal:
    • In the opening scene where Whisper exclaims to himself about not giving up, it's a reference to the first episode where Hoshino Tatsurou says the exact same phrase. Interestingly, it was previously referenced in the Japanese version of The Spooky Intersection.
    • In the scene where Whisper sacrifices himself to get hit by a truck, it's a parody of a famous scene where Hoshino Tatsurou tries to get the attention of his fiancé by claiming he won't die, only for the truck to be stopped in the nick of time. Whisper saying "I will not die!" in the parodying scene mirror that of the source material and have become a popular catchphrase in Japanese culture.
  • The images of Whisper on the cathedral stained glass are the exact same poses seen on the OLM production script covers and model sheets of the anime series.
  • This is the only episode of the segment to have Yo-kai Reposessor suck Whisper in rather than Komajiro stamping a rejected mark on the screen.
