He wears a gray cloth bow on the top of his head and wears a bangle on each wrist and ankle. He also has a necklace around his neck. Flippit wears black, skirt-like clothes with a red hem. He is seen holding a gray pillow with him.

Flippit is based on the makura-gaeshi, meaning "pillow flipper." They are youkai related to the zashiki-warashi (see Gnomey#Origin) who appear as children dressed like a Niō, a monk or a samurai. They haunt bedrooms and appear late at night, shifting pillows while people are asleep so that they will find them at their feet upon waking up or in other bizarre locations. They are normally harmless pranksters, but some sources attribute other abilities to them. These abilities include flipping people instead of pillows, tossing them around the room with the whole futon, or causing sleep paralysis. They are sometimes born from the ghost of someone who was killed in the very room they haunt.
