Biology[]

Flocktopus resembles a purple cephalopod with a pink underside and yellow eyes. The inwards of his appendages are lined by sucker-like holes, which also inconsistently appear on the rest of his body. In addition to the five appendages seen at his lower half, he has two human-like arms on either side of his body, his right much larger than his left. On his head are a few small pink spots that resemble hearts. He is wrapped in the tentacles of a white octopus, whose tentacles cover most of his face as it clings to his body. The octopus has yellow eyes (the right one bigger than the left one) and a heart engraved on its head. Flocktopus's right arm is constantly pulling on this octopus.

Those he inspirits will draw positive attention, to the point where people will become clingy and intrusive.

In the anime[]

Yo-kai Watch[]

Flocktopus debuted in EP144, where he inspirited Nate, causing him to gain extremely intrusive attention at school. After running away, Nate confronted the Yo-kai, only for him to request Nate to pull the octopus off his head in a fit of anguish. Nate accepted the request, and summoned several Yo-kai to tug and yank the white octopus off of Flocktopus's head, eventually succeeding. Flocktopus gave his medal to Nate as gratitude, but it is later revealed that the octopus had instead attached itself to Whisper.

Yo-kai Watch![]

Flocktopus reappeared in EX028, where he was summoned by Nate to pull Sorrypus off of his head. Flocktopus worked together with the octopus attached to his head to tug Sorrypus, but to no avail, and he eventually noticed that the octopus's tentacles were stuck to Sorrypus's body. Sorrypus later sucked Flocktopus into his mouth and swallowed him whole.

Etymology[]

  • "Hipparidako" is a pun on hipparidako (ひっぱりだこ), to be very popular, and hipparidako (引っ張りだこ), dried octopus skewers.
  • "Flocktopus" is a mix of "flock", as in "flocking" to a person, and "octopus."
  • "Pulpopular" is a combination of "pulpo" (octopus) and "popular"

Trivia[]

  • Flocktopus does not have a real life medal counterpart.
