Frostail shares a similar appearance with Kyubi. While Kyubi's fur is golden in color, Frostail's fur is grey and silver. The parts colored purple on Kyubi are dark indigo on Frostail.
Frostail has the power to manipulate ice and snow. It's also purported to bestow lasting good luck.
In Yo-kai Watch 3, the Frostail who is working alongside Ed Zoff and Eyellure is an egocentric Yo-kai who wants power and is willing to erase other Yo-kai for it.
Can be freed from the Crank-a-kai with a Yellow Coin, Five Star Coin, or Special Coin in the present. He can also be found 40,000 meters into the Infinite Tunnel.
As of the Oni Evolution Update, he can also be freed from the Happy-Go-Lucky Crank-a-kai.
He is also revealed to be one of the three Yo-kai who stole the Enma Note alongside Ed Zoff and Eyellure and temporarily erased several Yo-kai with it in an attempt to kill Lord Enma.
Frostail in Yo-kai Watch: Wakuwaku Nyanderful Days.
Frostail debuts in Chapter 7 as Kyubi's rival on the subject of girl courtship. He is seen with a magazine about "Yo-kai's Girlfriends", and is more successful than Kyubi at wooing women. He is also equal to or even more egocentric than even Kyubi. Frostail states that he's the most popular Yo-kai but Kyubi states he must have rigged the vote. The two then decide to see who can woo the most women to see who really is more popular.
Etymology
"Frostail" is a contraction of frost tail.
"Nievacolas" is a combination of nieva (snows) and nueve colas (nine tails).
"Kryo" is a Greek prefix meaning "cold" or "frosty".
"Gelocoda" is a combination of "gelo" (frost) and "coda" (tail).
Origin
Frostail's Japanese name, Inugami ("dog kami"), refers to the dog spirit with the same name. They are familiars conjured through a complex and cruel ritual in which a dog is turned into a vengeful spirit, that will follow its master's orders to protect them, or even possess people and commit crimes. They are however very dangerous, as their rage is all-consuming and can potentially turn them against the conjurer who created them. Families protected by an inugami are called inugami-mochi (Japanese: 犬神持ち,inugami-mochi), and will only marry their children to those of other inugami-mochi families.
Trivia
Despite looking like a fox, his Japanese name, origin and one of his quotes in Yo-kai Watch Blasters show he is actually a dog Yo-kai.
Frostail's appearance in Yo-kai Watch 3, during the first "ENMA NOTE" quest, features many references to the Death Note franchise. His feature in the quest is most likely due to his japanese name, Inugami, being used as a reference/pun on Light Yagami's name, as it shares the kanji 神/gami with his.[1]
