Greesel shares his appearance with Awevil, except for having dull green skin, yellow eyes and white hair, and wearing brown and black robes. His wooden staff is also darker in color.
He has the personality of a money-loving miser with the ambition to control all of the world's wealth, being obsessed with saving money but not spending any of it. In the anime, Greesel can dodge attacks with minimal movement to ensure minimal wastage of energy.
Greesel causes his Inspirited targets to act very stingy and go to extreme lengths to avoid wastage, such as cutting down on food.
Greesel appears in the 4th and 5th Circles of Infinite Inferno, in room A-203 in Tranquility Apartments and between 8000 and 10000m in the Infinite Tunnel.
As of the Oni Evolution Update, he can also be freed from the Happy-Go-Lucky Crank-a-kai.
He also will appear if the player makes donations to the Mount Wildwood Shrine for 20 days. Refuse to pay him, and he engages you in combat. Defeating him will award you his medal
Greesel first appears in Yo-kai Greesel, inspiriting Nate's mother to make her act more stingy in an attempt to save money in the household. This causes her to cut down on food, laundry, water, and toilet paper drastically. Nate eventually summons Spenp to deal with Greesel, and Greesel agrees to go out with Spenp for sushi after Spenp offers to pay for his share.
He is summoned in EP118, where he bonds with Greengramps as they both recycle (for different reasons).
