Hi-Tech Hide-and-Seek is the second chapter of Yo-kai Watch 2.
Story[]
Whisper yells that he just remembered something, he orders the protagonist to go to the sacred tree on Mt. Wildwood so they can make more Yo-kai friends. Whisper stops the protagonist outside their house, reminding them that Yo-kai need nutrition too and gives them 3 Plum Rice Balls. On Mt. Wildwood, the player states that they can't go up the stairs to the shrine. Whisper tells them to use their watch to see if a Yo-kai is there. The protagonist finds Blowkade who attacks the player. They approach the sacred tree with Whisper explaining the Crank-a-kai. He gives the player the Select-A-Coin which allows them to choose a Yo-kai. On the way home, the player finds a man mumbling to himself. Talking to him activates the key quest A Cicada Professional. This also unlocks two other key quests that must be completed Matt, Don't Give Up! and Customer Attraction!. Once the quests are completed, it becomes evening, Whisper noting the time. The protagonist heads home to find their parents chatting happily. Happierre is briefly seen Inspiriting them. They say how they got both Spirit and Soul doughnuts but the protagonist is a little embarrassed at how lovey dovey they are. The protagonist goes to bed and the next day two office workers are shown eating lunch when a crow steals one of their sandwiches. At home, the protagonist views a broadcast on the news about crows stealing food and shiny things. The player tells their mother that they're going to go to Gourd Pond to see Eddie.
At Gourd Pond, Eddie shows the protagonist his two Mega Watches. While showing it off however, a crow steals it. Eddie states that he can use his other watch's GPS function to track the stolen one. They follow the crow to the bridge and Eddie tries to grab it but the watch falls in the river. Whisper senses a Yo-kai by the watch, ushering the protagonist to use their watch to search for it. They find Walkappa asleep in the water, the watch on his stomach. Yoink appears in the shadows, interested in the watch. Walkappa stops at the end of the river but Yoink grabs the watch. The protagonist corners him in the south but he Inspirits a cat to get away. Eddie follows with the protagonist explaining a cat took it. The protagonist follows it to Uptown Springdale and the Catwalk. The cat is cornered once again with Eddie joining the protagonist. Yoink leaves the cat, fighting the protagonist. Once defeated, Whisper takes the watch back from Yoink. Whisper and Jibanyan fight over who gets to play with the watch, Whisper accidentally dropping it down the sewer entrance. The cat gets mad at Eddie, chasing him away. The protagonist goes into the sewers, noting how sweaty they feel even though it should be cool there. The protagonist then finds Swelton south of the entrance. They ask if Swelton has seen the watch which he shows them he's wearing it. The protagonist asks for the watch back but Swelton refuses, fighting them. Swelton is sad that he has to give up the watch, stating how he never has nice things or friends because he's so sweaty. The protagonist makes a deal that they'll be his friend if they hand over the watch. Swelton agrees, becoming friends and giving back the watch.
Back at Gourd Pond Park, the protagonist returns the watch to Eddie. They try to explain that the strange occurrences were because of Yo-kai but he doesn't understand. Whisper tries to use his shiny body to get Eddie to notice him but this instead attracts crows watching over them and they begin to take him away.
