Etymology[]
Hyakkiou Enma combines Hyakki (Japanese: 百鬼 Hundred Demons) with Ō (Japanese: 王 King) on Enma Daiō (Japanese: エンマ大王 Lord Enma).
Origin[]
Hyakkiou Enma is based on the "百鬼夜行" (Hyakki Yagyō) or "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons" concept which is a well-known theme in Japanese folklore, where supernatural beings are believed to roam the streets during certain nights. Also his name implies that he is the Lord of the oni.
