Independent Study Pt. 1 is a Quest in Yo-kai Watch 2. The quest giver is Chelsea, who is located in the library of Springdale Elementary School on the 3rd floor. It is recommended to be completed around Level 17.
Quest[]
Chelsea and Sarah are in the library looking up things for their summer project. They reveal they're researching Old Springdale and the protagonist says they know a bit about it too - Whisper reminding them not to let slip they've been to the past. The girls reveal they need photographs for their project and one is of the elementary school. Sarah specifies it needs to be in black and white, from a high angle and during a sunny day.
The protagonist wonders about getting a camera, Whisper telling them about Tortoise Camera shop in Downtown Springdale. The protagonist goes and asks for a camera that can take black and white pictures. The staff member is pleased they have an interest in photography but says they don't have any for sale. He however, has one of his own and because the protagonist shows a love for photography, he'll let them borrow it.
At the school, in order to get a picture from high up, Whisper suggests the protagonist climb the flagpole.

During quest[]
- Chelsea and Sarah are doing research on Old Springdale. They're looking for a photo of the school! We need a camera, so we're headed to Tortoise Camera Shop in Downtown Springdale!
- We went to Tortoise Camera Shop and got a B&W Camera for free! Now we can get an old-looking photo of the old elementary school! Let's head for the elementary school in Old Springdale!
- Let's take a photo of the old elementary school with the B&W Camera! Sarah wanted a photo from above, taken on a sunny day... I should be able to climb the schoolyard flagpole for the shot!

- Go to Tortoise Camera shop in Downtown Springdale and talk to the staff member outside.
- Go to the elementary school in Old Springdale.
- Climb the flagpole all the way to the top (player must have already climbed the flagpole here or in the present a number of times beforehand)
