Lionguist greatly resembles Blazion and his paletteswaps, only he wears jeans and a striped shirt. He has an elongated chevron-shaped nose, and his blonde mane is styled into a giant Afro. Like Blazion and the others, Lionguist's eyebrows go up and disappear into his hairline. He also carries a book.
Lionguist is fluent in every language in the world, and those he inspirits gains fluent knowledge.
Lionguist has a rather jovial and mellow personality.
Lionguist is the first friendly 'Merican Yo-kai Nate meets at the beginning of the storyline. This Yo-kai inspirits Nate's father to help him overcome the slang (English language barrier in the Japanese and other foreign-language versions) and accents with a neighbor of theirs. After a battle, Lionguist becomes friends with Nate and allows him to understand the lingo spoken.
Halfway through the story, Hailey Anne visits St. Peanutsburg via the Yopple Inc. Warp tubes and Lionguist uses his ability to allow her to speak in their dialect to better communicate with Buck.
He can also be evolved from Blazion by fusing with Starry Spangles.
"Peraperaion" is a portmanteau of perapera (onomatopoeia equivalent to "bla bla", typically used for foreigners speaking without being understood; also used for the flapping of pages) and the English lion.
"Lionguist" is derived from the portmanteau of lion and linguist.
"Leonguista" comes from "leone" (lion) and "linguista" (linguist).
