The Local Yo-kai (Japanese: ご当地妖怪 Gotōchi Yōkai) are a group of Rare Yo-kai which debuted in Yo-kai Watch 2.
These Yo-kai all evolve when fused with specific items.
In Yo-kai Watch World, it introduced a new Local Yo-kai event called: Gotochinyan (Japanese: ご当地ニャン Gotōchinyan)
How to befriend in Yo-kai Watch 2 (Japanese)
As part of a collaboration with the Arcade game Yo-kai Watch: Tomodachi Ukiukipedia, these Yo-Kai are spread across the regions of Japan and their cards must be obtained and their QR codes scanned by the 3DS's camera in order to obtain a Local Coin to use in the Crank-a-kai in order to obtain the Rank D Local Yo-kai.
To get the Fusion items needed for them to evolve, one must acquire a password.
How to befriend in Yo-kai Watch 2 (English)
You must use a password which will give you a Traveler's Coin. Then by using them in the Crank-a-kai you can have the chance to obtain the Rank D Local Yo-kai.

How to befriend in Yo-kai Watch World (Gotochinyan)
1. Go to the target venue. The spot icon will appear on the map in the game.
2. Receive Yo-kai from the spot icon. Tap the "Get!" (ゲットする!) Button to get the challenge letters of a Gotochinyan and Fesnyan. The challenge letter will reach to "Mail" (ゆうびん). Once you receive it, you will be in a battle standby state with "Haunting Night Waiting" (百鬼夜待). If you win the battle you will befriend a Gotochinyan.

- The Mysterious tribe is the only Yo-kai tribe that is not represented by a Local Yo-kai.
- On the other side of the proverbial coin, the Brave, Charming and Tough tribes are the only two tribes that are represented by multiple Local Yo-kai.
- The only Shadowside Tribe represented by a Local Yo-kai so far is Omamori.
- Certain Local Yo-kai can be found in the overworld as roaming Yo-kai in Yo-kai Watch 3.
- In the English version of Yo-kai Watch 3, this group of Yo-kai are the only ones to have their original Japanese medals.
