Lord Enma (Japanese: エンマ大王 Enma Daiō) is one of the of the side characters in the Yo-kai Watch animation series. He is first seen in Christmas Blackout! Time for a Yo-kai Watch Update! as a cameo before his full appearance in M02.
Lord Enma's appearances in the anime from then have been minor, usually serving as one-off cameos, but that isn't the case in Yo-kai Watch Shadowside, Yo-kai Watch! and Y School Heroes, where he plays a bigger role.

Lord Enma first appears in Christmas Blackout! Time for a Yo-kai Watch Update!, when the power is restored in Springdale as a cameo in his human form.
Yo-kai Watch the Movie: Lord Enma and the Five Tales, Nyan![]

Lord Enma appears in his human guise in the first tale, exploring the human world behind Zazel's back to see if human and Yo-kai relationships really were bad like he said. Dsitracted by his phone and music, Enma doesn't notice the construction pipes about to crush him until Nate rushes in to save him, surprising Enma and leaving him staring after him. He then pulls his headphones off and snaps his fingers, summoning Dethmetal and nodding to him, leading to Nate's demise.
Whilst Nate led his new life as Fuu 2 with Yuto Arima, to whom he gave a Yo-kai watch, Lord Enma overlooked the events that had happened, all the way up to Yuto's near-death experience. After Nate was sent back into his body due to breaking the rules of interfering with human problems, Lord Enma gives him a Yo-kai Medal and leaves without explanation.
He also sends Jibanyan, Shogunyan and Robonyan F into the future where Jibanyan's former owner Amy worked as a fashion designer in Shibuya and delivers a baby boy named Komasaburo to Koma Kaachan, possessing Dromp in the process to take the child back. He watches over Hailey and Usapyon's Christmas present delivery, and starts to realize that humans aren't a corrupt influence towards Yo-kai.
When he explains to Zazel that life in the human world pertaining to their relationships with Yo-kai isn't so bad, the latter disagrees with the idea claiming that it doesn't follow the former ruler's intentions of breaking the bonds due to their corrupt influences. Lord Enma is sealed in his bed by Zazel, and fakes the news as him catching the "flu from humans" spread throughout the Yo-kai World.

In a last-ditch attempt to defeat Zazelmare once and for all, Nate and Hailey combine their Yo-kai Watches with the Lord Enma Yo-kai Medal and manages to summon him as well as the former being temporarily upgraded.
Lord Enma easily dispels Zazelmare's attacks, shooting back, and explains what he saw out on the human world, trying to convince Zazel that his views on humans interacting with Yo-kai are wrong. Zazelmare retorts that he made a promise to his king, and Lord Enma, now knowing why Zazel was acting this way cuts off his powers and simply walks towards him, taking every one of Zazelmare's attacks with barely a scratch. He puts a hand on Zazelmare and separates Zazel from Duke Drooly and Alicktokat, telling him that times had changed and asking Zazel to help him make a new world where Yo-kai and humans can be friends. Zazel, seeing an echo of Ancient in Lord Enma's frin, bows and accepts, and Enma declares to all the Yo-kai listening that from now on they'll be allowed and encouraged to integrate with humans again.
During the credits scene, Lord Enma and Zazel put together some new laws about human and Yo-kai relations by writing some of the scrolls with some help from Aristokat and Duke Doggy.
Season 2[]
Lord Enma first appears by making a cameo at the end of EP138, to defeat El Gutso.
Yo-kai Watch the Movie: The Great Adventure of the Flying Whale & the Double World, Nyan![]
When the world suddenly turned real for the first time, Lord Enma (portrayed by Kento Yamazaki) and Zazel (portrayed by Takumi Saitou) glance at their realistic-looking selves before they started to suddenly force themselves to dance at unexpected times, as a result of Narwail's power. Lord Enma had no other choice but to use the Enma Sword, where he tasked Hovernyan to send it to Nate for usage in the human world.
He appeared with Zazel again during the credits as a small scene.
Season 3[]
Nate was trying to summon him in EP172 to fight Judgebrick, but he is stopped by Whisper and Jibanyan.
In EP180, Whisper wanted to make a video of himself shooting Lord Enma with a Yo-kai Bazooka in his sleep to get views on Yo-Tube only to be beaten up by Zazel.
In EP188, Lord Enma is summoned (but isn't shown) to fight Slippup who was embarrassing Nate, but his mother begins to speak as if Lord Enma were an imaginary friend, much to his chagrin.
In EP194, Lord Enma and Zazel holds a contest on Halloween to see how many tricks Yo-kai can pull (each trick was amount a fixed amount of points, tricking either Enma or Zazel was worth more points) and the winner gets to stay in Lord Enma's palace for a while. Near the end of the deadline, Whisper manages to get past Zazel's attack and finally hits Lord Enma with a hammer, but he is two seconds past midnight causing an angered Lord Enma to blow up Whisper with his soultimate.

Zazel[]
Despite the events of MO2, where Zazel tries to overthrow Lord Enma when he sees that he will do the oppposite of what his predescessor intended-encourage humans and Yo-kai to cultivate friendships between each other- once they cleared the air (through shouting match and destroying the palace) there seem to be no grudges held on either side, and Lord Enma easily forgives Nurarihyon the attempted coup. Lord Enma nicknames Zazel Nurari, derived his japanese name Nurarihyon, a quirk he shares with Ancient.
Nate Adams[]
Nate first meets Enma when he's in his human guise and rushes to push Enma out of the way of falling pipes, much to his surprise. Lord Enma seems to decide test Nate then and there, and calls Dethmetal to cause Nate's death so he'd turn into a Yo-kai. He watches as Fuu2 manages to save Yuto from Dethmetal, and apparently satisfied by this example of human and yokai relationships being for the better, Enma drops him his sealed medal when Nate is returned back to life and darts off without a word of explanation, leaving Nate confused and unaware of what just happened. He later realizes whose medal he's holding as he recalls it has the same symbol as the flying carpet that brought them to the Enma palace, and together with Hailey breaks the seal in it, upgrading his U1 watch temporarily and splitting the medal into two.
Hailey Anne[]
When Nate tries to summon Lord Enma and his watch reaches out to hers, she helps Nate break the seal in Lord Enma's medal, upgrading her U2 watch temporarily and splitting the medal into two so she gets a copy. She thinks his "costume" is very cool.
Trivia[]
- Despite both Nate and Hailey Anne having Lord Enma's medal, Hailey Anne never summons or interacts with Lord Enma again. This might be because she never got the Dream Watch and her U2 model isn't strong enough to summon him, or it might be that Lord Enma prefers to hang out with Nate (as Lord Enma originally gave his medal to him only and didn't set up a test for Hailey the same way he did for the other tales)
