Mai Chono (Japanese: 蝶野マイ, Chōno Mai) is a character in Y School Heroes and the leader of the Cheerleading Club.

Mai Chono is a young girl who wears a cheerleader's uniform. Her top is blue with white and red stripes near the neck and base. Her skirt is white and it has a red stripe along the bottom half. She has white cuffs on her top, and the sleeves are long. Her socks are nearly up to her knees, and the top of them is blue while they are mostly white. Her shoes are yellow, white, and blue. Her hair is a pastel ginger, and she has two giant bows in her hair; one bow on her left pigtail, and the other on her right pigtail. Her eyes are black and they have white sparkles, while her eyebrows are small and also ginger.

In episode 2, when all students started fighting with cleaning utensils, Mai started cheering the fighters. The fight ended when Sandayu took down Mataro's pants revealing his underwear with a frog on it, making Mai and everyone else burst out into laughter.
