Etymology[]
Name Origin[]
Merek may come from the Yazidism "Tawûsî Melek" (Peacock Angel) the central figure of the Yazidi religion, a faith with roots in pre-Islamic Mesopotamia and later influences from Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Islam, and Gnostic traditions. In Yazidism, meaning of his name reflects his role as both an angelic being and the sovereign ruler among angels. According to Yazidi belief, God created the world and entrusted its care to seven archangels, with Tawûsî Melek as their leader. In the sacred story, God tested the angels by commanding them to bow before Adam. Tawûsî Melek refused, declaring that he would bow only to God.
Also in hebrew Melek means King.
