Minochi is a muscular Yo-kai that has a shape of a popped mochi, like Mochismo. Unlike him, Minochi is not stark white, but appears to be pink hued. He wears a black robe around his waist and has an aggressive look on his popped face.
When he puffs up his cheeks and exhales a ghastly steam, the person he sprays becomes jealous and cannot help but act irrationally as a result. They also get a cloth that they put in their mouths and shrug on (similar to what Minochi does when he’s jealous). This power can affect entire crowds of Yo-kai as well as humans.
The fact he is a rice cake means he can be eaten in an emergency, but that also allows him to be eaten to submission. He can regenerate like Wotchagot, and also can get tired of regenerating like him.
Minochi can be found in stage 57, 83, 121, 258, 266, secret stage 3-3 in Sewer C, secret stage 7-6 in Excellent Tower, secret stage 11-36, 14-70 and 14-70 in the Infinite Inferno and secret stage 18-17, 21-22, 21-37 and 23-68 in the Divine Paradise.
"Yakimochi" is derived from yakimochi (焼き餅, "roasted mochi"). It is also an idiom for "jealousy." It is unsure how this idiom came to be, but one theory traces it back to a homophony between yaku (妬く, "to be jealous") and yaku (焼く, "to burn, to roast").
