Mitsue Arihoshi (Japanese: 有星みつえ Arihoshi Mitsue) is a recurring character in the Yo-kai Watch series, appearing in Yo-kai Watch 4 and the Yo-kai Watch Shadowside anime. She is the grandmother of Bruno.

Biology[]
Mitsue in her younger years.
Mitsue is an old lady with grey hair and a wrinkled face, with shrine beads in her hair. She also wears a red, green and black hakama with geta. When Mitsue was younger, she had purple hair, a red-and-white hakama and beads in her hair.
She can come off as quite serious, yet knowledgeable coming from her hard work she studied in learning about Yo-kai and supernatural occurrences. Mitsue tends to complain to his grandson Bruno for not listening to her at times as an example.
As a member of the Arihoshi family, she has an ability that has been passed down from her relatives. She can draw stars in the air so she can attack Yo-kai, but because she has been honing her skills for long she can create a force-field that protects her from attacks.

Mitsue at Nobushige's grave after their death.
Some time after the events of M05, Tae Arihoshi and Jack Cobbler had Mitsue Arihoshi as their daughter and grew up in a family where she carries out her family's traditions such as participating in Japanese holidays and learning supernatural power of drawing stars in the air to use as combat.
She never liked her father mass-producing New Year's fortunes with stencils, trained with her magical powers at the shrine in her spare time and tinkered with technological objects. Because of her hard work, she was a popular shrine maiden at a young age.
Mitsue also used to bond with a pet dog named Nobushige who was friends with a frog, before she accidentally killed them by making her magical powers misfire towards the lion dog statue instead of the target due to the heavy snowstorm and toppling over the lion dog statue over them both. The next day, she grieved at their deaths at the graves, despite them not telling the truth.
Little is known what happened between the time she grew old, but she had a child that would later grow up and give birth to Bruno before his parents became deceased. She had trained Bruno to her fullest potential, allowing him to hone his powers.
M04[]
One day, Mitsue warns Bruno of an oncoming meteor containing the Onimaro invasion and gives him a Yo-kai Radar she has developed so Bruno could find any suspicious Yo-kai activity in the area.
Yo-kai Watch Shadowside anime[]
In SS027, Mitsue overhears Komasan's backstory when he was still a dog. Much to Bruno mistakening her younger appearance as somebody else, she went on to explain about her popularity and tells them about a small creature named who also died along with his pet dog.
She suddenly notices that a hole had been made in the smaller grave where Nobushige's friend was buried. After the others learn about Komajiro with help of Minamoto, Mitsue recalls the story of how they were tragically crushed to death by the statue but she starts to feel nervous about them theorizing about a force must have pushed over the statue.
Carrying a feeling of fear, Mitsue tries to walk away but she is stopped by Yoshitsune and finds out the truth of her accidental murder by from Yoshitsune's powers. Though Komasan is shocked at the truth, Komajiro reacts badly and transforms into his Shadowside to fight Mitsue. Komasan joins in, combining their powers until Mitsue surrenders on the brink of death and apologizes to them both. She did not fully realize the truth because her guardians and parents didn't want to ruin her feelings.
Trivia[]
- Her relation with Tae Arihoshi is shown in the fifth movie as Tae is seen using the same magic spell she and her grandson perform throughout the Shadowside series. This is further supported by the fact that Tae herself mentions how she comes from a long line of people who had magical abilities.
- Additionally, Tae owns the same Yo-kai Detection Radar Bruno owns.
