"Even if a rude little fox from another town turns up in human form... As a school teacher, I can send it away without attracting attention"
—Mr. Barton, Yo-kai Watch 3

Mr. Barton (Japanese: 理科の先生 Rika no Sensei) is a character from Yo-kai Watch and a science teacher of Springdale Elementary for class 2.

Appearances[]

Video Games[]

Manga series[]

  • Enma no Kyūjitsu: Minor character
  • Atsumare! Tomodachi Yo-kai: Cameo character

Physical traits[]

Appearance[]

Mr. Barton is a fair skinned man with long, hazelnut hair. He wears red-framed glasses and a white coat, with a purple shirt underneath and a yellow tie, white trousers and black shoes.

Personality[]

Profile[]

Yo-kai Watch[]

He can be mostly found inside Springdale Elementary's science room, though in some chapters of the game, he is absent from the school.

In Chapter 7, "Kyubi the Bully", the player ends up asking Mr. Barton about the guardian spirit of Flower Road, and its anger towards the plans to tear it town. He mentions the fire that mysteriously started near Nocturne Hospital, and suggests to the player that they talk to Lucas about it.

Yo-kai Watch 2[]

He is one of the characters you need to talk to in order to complete Kyubi's quest. Like in the first game, he seems to take great interest in the legends about Mr. Fox, the guardian spirit of Flower Road.

He appears in a request exclusive to the "Psychic Specters" version, A Real Charmer.

In that quest, the player helps Kyubi, a fox Yo-kai child, to gather 10 Kyubi Orbs. However, when they attempt to present those to the Crimson Master, Mr. Barton shows up instead, who says he's just going for a walk. Kyubi suspects that Mr. Barton himself might be the Crimson Master, and attempts to hand the Kyubi Orbs over to him, but then noticed that all of them have vanished.

Mr. Barton says he doesn't see them, but then tells Kyubi that next time he should properly gather them on his own, and from girls from another town, too. The player doesn't seem to hear that part, and is confused about why Kyubi is so intimidated by Mr. Barton.

Yo-kai Watch 3[]

Mr. Barton doesn't have much of a role, but he does appear in the request "Yo-kai Council’s Secret Investigation Order" (Japanese: 妖怪評議会の極秘指令 Yōkai Hyōgikai no Gokuhi Shirei), added in version 2.0 of the games.

In that request, he is one of the characters Lord Enma visits. Lord Enma mentions that he would've never expected Mr. Barton to become a teacher, but he explains that this position makes it easier for him to drive away a misbehaving fox Yo-kai child (or possibly children) that has come from another town, and taken on human form. This likely refers to Kyubi, and his role in Psychic Specters, but may also imply multiple fox children like him.

Later in that quest, Lord Enma reveals to Nate that Mr. Barton, along with the other people he visited, is in fact a Yo-kai pretending to be human.

Relationships[]

Kyubi[]

In the manga[]

Enma no Kyūjitsu[]

Atsumare! Tomodachi Yo-kai[]

Mr. Barton makes a small cameo in the background of Chapter 4, in the "Where's Komajiro" panel. Unlike his other appearances, he has a tail resembling one of Kyubi's, referencing his Yo-kai identity and mysterious relation to Kyubi.

Trivia[]

  • Mr. Barton was never given a name in the Japanese version, being referred to simply as "science teacher".
