Katie finds the Yo-kai Watch! is the first chapter in the Yo-kai Watch: Wakuwaku Nyanderful Days manga series.
Plot[]
Whisper gives Katie the Yo-kai Watch
Katie Forester is walking around Uptown Springdale, thinking about how sometimes she feels like she can see unseeable things. She then feels a presence behind her, but only finds a boy behind her. She then finds an antique shop, and decides to look inside.
The Antique shop
After walking inside, Katie notes how old most of the merchandise is, before finding a plush cat in a box, with a tag on it. It then comes off, making Katie wonder if it was a magic seal. The plush then reanimates, and turns her head towards him, causing Katie to freak out and knock over a capsule on a table. The capsule releases Whisper, causing Katie to run for her life. The reanimated plush cat and Whisper chase her, as Whisper thanks her for releasing him, calling himself her "Yo-kai Butler". Katie continues running away, as Whisper explains that Yo-kai are everywhere, even if most people can't see them, and that while some Yo-kai are malicious, others are friendly. Katie finally stops running, asking if there are lots of Yo-kai in the world. Whisper confirms this, and gives her the Yo-kai Watch, telling her to look through the lens. They reveal Roughraff, and the appearance of him also scares Katie.
Whisper asks Katie if she wants to befriend various Yo-kai. Katie questions why she would want to do that, and Whisper explains they want her to be a bridge between humans and Yo-kai. Katie then notes the cat is being extremely affectionate to her, creeping her out. She calls him a stray cat and tells him she's going to call the cops. The cat tells her he's not a stray cat, and his name is Jibanyan. As he explains his "master" used to be a young girl, Katie heads for a phone box to call the police, as Whisper tries to stop her. Jibanyan then explains that he used to live with his master, before dying and becoming a Yo-kai, which is why he was happy to meet her. After hearing this, Katie then tells Jibanyan her name, before telling him they can be friends. Both Whisper and Jibanyan become her friends, with Katie recieving Jibanyan's medal.
Later that night, Katie is shocked when she finds out Whisper and Jibanyan moved into her house. Jibanyan explains "friends always stick together".

- Katie being able to feel the presence of Yo-kai before she gets the Yo-kai Watch was also used in Yo-kai Watch 4.
- The antique shop that Katie visits bears a resemblance to the Memory Store in Yo-kai Watch 2.
