Nathan "Nate" Adams (Japanese: 天野景太 Amano Kēta) is one of the main characters in the Yo-kai Watch manga series.
He is a child who possesses an item called a Yo-kai Watch, which allows him to see, befriend and summon Yo-kai. Nate also despises being called "average", who goes to great lengths to be better and even impress Katie Forester.

Biology[]
Appearance (On volume covers)[]
Nathan is a young boy with a fair-skin, big black eyes and brown hair worn with three large spikes that resemble cowlicks. A small amount of hair sticks down at his neck. He wears his Yo-kai Watch on his left wrist.
His well-known appearance is that he wears a red short sleeve shirt with a white rim on each sleeve and color. On his arm is a blue and white design. His cargo pants are light grey and worn with a brown belt. His boots resemble a pair of white shoes accented with blue and red.
Personality[]
Almost the same personality only that he is kinder to the Yo-kai always looking for ways to help humanity with their abilities and not cause more problems.
He is usually happy when he gets a Yo-kai medal and sometimes he takes advantage of some Yo-kai to help him with something.
He tends to get upset with those Yo-kai who want to complete a selfish purpose or just cause trouble. It has also been confusing in some encounters if the Yo-kai defeats itself.
In Wakuwaku Nyanderful days he is a bit more simple minded and naive. When Katie tries to egg him on to compliment her in Chapter 3 he completely misses her hints.

He is his butler who tries to help something but it goes wrong, he also warns him if there is any Yo-kai nearby.

On almost every occasion he summons him to face the Yo-kai but this ends up failing, despite that he is a great friend.

Volume 1[]
He debuts in Chapter 1, where he narrates: "I am Nathan Adams, I am a normal elementary school student." but one day in a tree he meets the Crank-a-kai, deposits a coin and frees Whisper from the gashapo sphere. Nate is scared when he sees a Yo-kai for the first time, after Whisper gave him the Yo-kai Watch and he saw Happierre and was surprised, he sets out to look for more Yo-kai they find Jibanya. After hearing Jibanyan's story, Nate tells him that it is incredible and they become friends thus obtaining his first Yo-kai medal and when he invokes it for the first time Jibanyan was fighting against the cars and by mistake Nate and Whisper are hit by Jibanyan. later I will propose to make more friends Yo-kai.
In Chapter 2. He returns home only to see how his parents because of Dismarelda, when he tries to confront her he is spirit by her, then he invokes Jibanyan to help but he was already defeated, then he was spirited again by Dismarelda but Jibanyan saves him by bringing Happierre, After the Yo-kai couple reconcile, Nate becomes friends with them. Later Nate invokes Dismarelda to discourage Whisper but he also comes out spirit.
In Chapter 3. Nate is pushed by Whisper so he won't be late for school. After discovering that Eddie had a strange problem he decides to help him. Nate discovers that the person responsible was Mochismo, after Nate and Whisper get stuck by the mochi, Nate invokes Jibanyan. After Jibanyan, Nate, and Whisper discover that Mochismo's mochi is rich, Nate befriends Mochismo and fixing Eddie's problem.
In Chapter 4. he forgot his backpack because of Wazzat. After Bear made a joke on him, Nate decides to use Wazzat to make Bear forget the joke to make another one but when he does it Bear hits him but everyone forgets it because of Wazzat and they made Nate look like a bad person after Nate will use it many times and send him to punishment. He decides to fight Wazzat, summons Jibanyan. After defeating Wazzat and calming him down they become friends. shortly after, Nate asks Wazzat to erase everyone's memory so he doesn't look like a bad person.
In Chapter 5. Nate tried to do his homework but falls asleep. In the morning while going to school he sees Bear sleepwalking, discovers that Baku was responsible, Nate sees Whisper's dream and reacts annoyed and discovers that Baku is looking for a specific dream. Nate invokes Jibanyan and the latter sleeps and Nate sees his dream, after Jibanyan sneezed Baku his sleep gas, after seeing Baku's dream and taking him home, Nate and Baku become friends. Nate dreams of getting 100 points on an exam.
In Chapter 6. Nate tries to get fast to buy the koro koro magazine and that's why Nate gets on Whisper but everything goes wrong, Nate flies off and when he lands he drops the money into the gutter. When Nate looked for coins under a vending machine he met Noko, Nate saved himself from being hit by the ball and Eddie giving him the most recent game, he also saw Noko lost weight. after going to the Inazuma Store to buy some bread for Noko to save him. After facing a thief with the help of Noko, Nate and Noko become friends but Noko was already exhausted and Nate received a ball.
In Chapter 7. Nate was resting from his search for Yo-kai, then he decides to continue his search for Yo-kai, he considered summoning Noko but he decided on Jibanyan but Whisper cancels the invocation. Nate meets a person spirited by Negatibuzz, he summons Happierre. After Negatibuzz reveals himself and Happierre is defeated and Negatibuzz feeds on the negativity of his victims, Nate is very good to him. After Jibanyan defeats Negatibuzz, the latter befriends Nate.
In the special chapter of this volume. In order not to be late for school, he mounts Jibanyan but both are run over by a car.
Yo-kai Watch: Wakuwaku Nyanderful Days[]
Nate makes his debut in Chapter 2 where he greets Katie on their way to school. She explains to Whisper and Jibanyan that he's just her classmate and she think's he's really ordinary and it would be boring to go on a date with him - with Nate overhearing this. Katie then realises that Nate can't see Whisper and Jibanyan and asks if there are other Yo-kai. Whisper explains that Yo-kai like to play tricks on simple-minded people and Katie thinks of Nate.
At lunch, Katie in enjoying her school lunch when she looks over to Nate and notices he's wearing a frilly dress. Katie worries that the change is because she called him ordinary but Whisper explains it must be the work of a Yo-kai. Katie uses her Yo-kai watch and finds Dazzabel inspiriting Nate. She tells her that Nate was the easiest person to inspirit in the whole school. Nate continues to try on feminine clothing with Katie trying to interject. Jibanyan explains that Dazzabel is just lonely. She inspirits all of them and asks to become friends which Katie obliges only if she stops bothering Nate. Nate is no longer inspirited but thinks he may have lost a few friends from dressing femininely.
Nate appears in Chapter 3 where he and Katie are admiring the cherry blossoms. Nate overhears a boy telling a girl she's more beautiful than the cherry blossoms and admits he could never talk to anyone like that with Katie being a little disappointed. Katie tells Nate that girls want to be called beautiful, noting that the girl just now was especially beautiful too. She exclaims that she wants to be beautiful and in love one day with Nate agreeing, missing the fact she was fishing for a compliment. She tells him what he was meant to say but he states that would be a lie. As Katie turns back to him, Nate has an elderly appearance. Katie discovers that a Yo-kai is inspiriting Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan and discovers it to be Grumples. Katie gives Grumples some of her mother's skin cream to smooth out her wrinkles and they become friends.
Nate appears in Chapter 5 when he is discussing who the cutest girl in class with with Bear and Eddie. He exclaims that Katie is the cutest with her overhearing. Later, the girls watch in shock as Nate and the other boys in class are fawning over Natalie with Nate exclaiming he doesn't think Katie is so cute anymore. Katie finds Shmoopie inspiriting Natalie and defeats him, returning the boys to normal.
Nate appears in Chapter 9 where he joins Katie going to the summer festival. Nate tells Katie she looks cute in her kimono and she remarks that he's oddly chatty. While Katie is goldfish scooping, Nate continues to egg her on which makes her embarrassed but he quickly moves on to wanting food, He tells Katie it might be best for her to not have takoyaki however as he thinks she looks chubby. Katie tries to get Bear and Eddie to interject but they're both preoccupied. Nate begins to harass the owner of the takoyaki stall, stating that they're too small. Katie gets out her Yo-kai watch and discovers all the boys are inspirited by Yo-kai. Kyubi appears, shooing the Yo-kai away for her and asks her to spend some time with him while Nate gets chased by the stall owner for being so pushy.
Nate appears in Chapter 12 where he is getting an ice lolly with Katie. Both of them discuss how much effort it is to do things and eventually both lay down on the ground. Whisper takes Katie's watch and discovers Cutta-nah inspiriting them.
Nate appears in Chapter 15 where he is at Katie's home doing homework. Katie's mother arrives with drinks and cupcakes. After eating, Nate quickly falls asleep much to Katie's surprise. A cloud appears from Nate revealing his dream where he's popular, smart, athletic and handsome. Katie uses her watch and finds Baku inspiriting him. After Katie befriends Baku, Katie and Nate's mother arrive telling them off for staying so late. Both are them shocked to see it's late at night and Katie rushes to finish her homework.
Nate appears briefly in Chapter 16 competing in a bike race with Katie inspirited by Roughraff.

Yo-kai Watch Shadowside the Movie: The Return of the Oni King[]
Nate makes a cameo at the end of the manga when Summer arrives home. She meets him outside their house just as he arrives home from work. Whisper recognises him and tells Summer to summon Jibanyan so he can reminisce.
