What Yo-kai Watch Wiki is not!

Before you create a character article, you must always begin with the respective character template on their respective articles. If you don't start with the character template on top of the articles, the article will be removed from the wiki. After adding the character template in their respective articles, you then start with a short summary of the character article. Do remember, that the text must be short, and not very long as seen in the game articles. Here is how the layout must be on the character articles:

  • Character - As explained above, the character article always starts with the character template that must be placed above of every character article. Placing the character template in different area's of the articles will be removed.

There are important headers that must be placed in those articles. Headers that are proven unworthy on this wiki must be removed from the character articles. Here is a list which headers must not be added in the character articles:

  • Gallery - Galleries are not allowed to be included in the character articles. This is due that contributors that are not seriously helping out on this wiki will add images in the character articles, but there are also contributors that are adding fan arts in the character articles due to their popularity. This must be prevented by removing galleries from the character articles.
  • Powers and abilities - This header comes from anime-based wiki's that are from the following genre's: action genre, comedy, supernatural, comedy-drama, fantasy, or anything that is anime, manga action-based. Although, Yo-kai Watch has a cross-media in the anime section, the game data serves as the actual powers and abilities section.
  • Relationships - Information of relationships can be added in the personality section of the character articles. This is to prevent shipping that are not truely confirmed by information released from Level-5 or from TV Tokyo or anything connected with the Yo-kai Watch franchise.

The main design for the character articles goes as followed:

  • Introduction - Introduction must not be placed as an header. This is a short summary text of the character that is placed after adding the character infobox. An example of the article design on how to write an short summary about the character, please see the article: Inaho Misora.
  • Appearances - This header contains cross-medial appearances of the character, such as that Nate appears in all three Yo-kai Watch games, the anime series, and the animation movies and side games. For the episodes, do not add every episodes that the character appears in. Write it in this way:
Appearances
* Yo-kai Watch: Major character, male player.
** Yo-kai Watch 2: Major character, male player.
** Yo-kai Watch 3: Major character, male player.
* Yo-kai Watch animation: Protagonist.
** Yo-kai Watch the Movie: Major Character.
** Yo-kai Watch the Movie: Lord Enma and the Five Tales, Nyan!: Major Character.
** Yo-kai Watch the Movie: The Great Adventure of the Flying Whale & the Double World, Nyan!: Major Character.

The design will look perfectly like this:

  • Yo-kai Watch: Major character, male player.
  • Yo-kai Watch animation: Protagonist.
  • Design - The appearance of the character. Tell in details about how the character looks like, like: facial structure, skin color, accessories, clothing, etc. Tell as well what kind of clothing the character has in differenr episodes he/she appears with.
  • Personality - Describe the personality of the character under this header. This header describes on how the character behaves and what their trademarks are in their personality. Explain it in fine details.
  • Profile - In what media did the character appeared in and what were their important roles in the cross-media franchise. Their stories must be written in seperate headers which media they appeared in. (See: Inaho Misora as an example). The sub headers under the main header of Profile must be as followed:
    • If the character appears in all three Yo-kai Watch main game, create the following sub headers: Yo-kai Watch, Yo-kai Watch 2, Yo-kai Watch 3 in italic. Do not create links in the header.
    • If the character appears only in side-games, create the following sub headers: Yo-kai Watch Busters, Yo-kai Watch Sangokushi in both bold and italic. Do not create links in the header.
    • For characters that appears in the anime, the sub header must have the following: Yo-kai Watch animation series in italic.
      • Under the sub header, there comes another sub header of which season the character appeared. It must have the following headers: If the character appeared in season 1, then the sub header must be named: Season 1. If the character appeared in season 2, then the sub header must be named: Season 2. Do not add bold and italic to the headers.
  • Etymology - What the meaning of each kanji in the character name means, if any, or what the character name means in any possible ways. This also counts for officially localized names by Nintendo.
  • Trivia - Information that are proven to be useless to input under any of those headers above. Those are very important info that are not really known in the games or animation, as they are coming from official intervieuws from the company and even from its creator.

Character articles: Dont's

There are some things that are clearly not accepted in the character articles in general. Here is a list of the following settings that you must place in any character articles around created on this wiki:

  • Do not add . This is mostly used in templates, and not in articles. If you ever place spans in those articles, you will receive a soft warning, which is a warning that is not very serious ot gives you any concerns to get block from this wiki. Spans must not be used on ever the articles around the wiki.
  • Placing your own opinion afterwards. Do not place your own opinion after you've written your text on this wiki. This is a professional encyclopdic mediawiki-based website, and not a standard website or forums.
  • When adding episode titles, do not place EP001, but its respective episode title to know in which episode title that even happened.
  • Adding galleries are prohibited at the character articles due to contributors only adding images and not adding information, as this wiki will become an image dump rather informative.
