Etymology[]

  • "Obaketto" is a portmanteau of "obake" ("ghost" or "apparition") and "bagetto" ("baguette").
  • "Punching Baguette" is a combination of the words Punching bag and Baguette.
  • "Panduro" is a portmanteau of "pan" ("bread") and "duro" ("hard" or "stiff").
  • "Baguantonio" is a combination of "baguette", "guanto" (glove), and possibly the name "Antonio."
  • "Krustov" is derived from "Kruste" ("bread crust"). His full name, "Krassimir Krustov", could be a reference to wrestler Krasimir Krastanov, combining the name with "krass" (extreme).

Trivia[]

  • Due to text limitations his name is shortened to "Pch. Baguette."
  • Punching Baguette may have taken inspiration from Ippo Makunouchi from the manga/anime series Hajime No Ippo. This is due to the fact that both Ippo and Buttered Blue/Punching Baguette both starting out as relative weaklings, but then grew stronger and eventually became a fearsome boxing threat. This is further supported by the fact that Punching Baguette's Soultimate, the Dempsey Roll, is similar to Ippo's move of the same name.
