The Gates of Whimsy

The Gates of Whimsy is a Key Quest in Yo-kai Watch 2. The quest giver is Diana Gately, who is located in the vault at Gourd Pond Museum and is recommended to be completed around Level 7. Since it is a Key Quest, the player is forced to complete it to progress with the story.

Quest[]

From the story, the protagonist walks to the ground floor of Gourd Pond Museum and runs into Diana Gately, she tells them to come to the vault to help her with something in secret. She tells the protagonist she's researching Gates of Whimsy, doors that appear over the world that lead to random locations. She wants the protagonist to enter the gate ahead of them in the vault because she doesn't know how to open it. She suggests they go outside where she thought she saw a door before and return her a Gate Globe. The door will be on the right side of the front wall of the museum, with a quest marker on the map.

After completing the Gate of Whimsy, the player returns to Diana Gately and she puts the Gate Globe into the door. The counter goes from five to four and Diana presumes that once it reaches zero something will happen. She asks the protagonist to go around Springdale finding more Gate Globes. This completes the quest.

There's a mysterious woman called Professor Gately working at the Gourd Pond Museum in Breezy Hills. She seems to spend all her time in the vault...

Professor Gately at the Gourd Pond Museum in Breezy Hills wants help investigating Gates of Whimsy. Let's examine the wall to the right of the museum with the Yo-kai Lens.
I used the Yo-kai Lens to examine the museum wall and found a Gate of Whimsy! If we're going to get the Gate Globe that Professor Gately asked for, I'll need to go through the gate.
Things get pretty strange on the other side of the Gate of Whimsy. We have a weird challenge: "Defeat Yo-kai Twice". Will we get a Gate Globe if we do? There's only one way to find out...
We passed the test and got a Gate Globe, but the Gate of Whimsy took us somewhere we weren't expecting. Let's head back to Professor Gately in the Gourd Pond Museum Vault.

Quest complete[]

Professor Gately placed the Gate Globe into the giant gate, and the numbers started counting down! What's going to happen when it reaches zero? Let's collect more Gate Globes and find out!

Guidance[]

Go outside of Gourd Pond Museum to the wall on the right.
Use the Yo-kai Lens to find the door.
Complete the Gate of Whimsy (the Yo-kai should be no trouble against the Yo-kai automatically given to you) and pick up the Gate Globe.
Return to Diana in the vault.
