Etymology[]
- "Tigappa" is a portmanteau "tiger" and "kappa".
- "Suiko" comes from "suiko" ("yokai that Suiko is based on").
- "Foreskappa" is a combination of "foresta" ("forest") and "kappa."
- "Tigrapa" is a portmanteau of "tigre" ("tiger") and "kappa".
- "Kappadissi" is a portmanteau of "kappa" and "dissiper" ("to dissipate").
Origin[]
Tigappa is based on the youkai called suiko (also his Japanese name), meaning "water tiger." Suiko is very similar to a kappa in shape, but they differ from their aquatic cousins due to their much larger and stronger bodies, covered in either tough scales or tiger-like stripes, and their violent, hot-headed disposition. Additionally, their habitat range extends all the way to China.
They can be seen commanding large gangs of kappa, and their activities range from pranks to outright killing humans and draining them of their blood. Their weaknesses are sickles when used as warding amulets, flax seeds, and black-eyed peas. Alternatively, cremating the body of one of their drained victims will cause them to shrivel up and die in turn.
Trivia[]
- Tigappa is one of the only Yo-kai colour variants to have a different pose in their art to their original Yo-kai.
