Umbral Enma resembles Lord Enma Awoken, with similar facial features and build. However, he has blue/green skin. His black robe has purple and violet flame decorations, as well as a mauve cape. His hair is gray, and has two decorations, which resemble earrings. It also points upward, resembling fangs. Umbral Enma has a third eye in the center of his forehead. His black crown is in the shape of a smiling fanged skull, with a light green flame.

In the Japanese version, Umbral Enma is exclusive to Sukiyaki. He can be befriended in the quest The Lonely King. Umbral Enma is encountered at the Mt. Cluvimpus located in the Cluvian Continent. After battling with Lord Enma, it is revealed that Umbral Enma hails from an alternate world where the Yo-kai World was ruined by war that not even him in a strengthened state could stop. After the quest line, players unlock Enma Palace in Blasters T and can challenge Umbral Enma in the Dark Labyrinth with a chance of befriending him in this instance.
In the Japanese Sushi or Tempura versions, Umbral Enma won't be featured in the quest, but can still be fought and befriended in the Enma Palace once it has been unlocked.
Didn't befriend: "Mwa hah hah... Impressive... But I must know what further potential lurks within the darkness of your soul... Come at me with your rage, your hate and your envy! Show me the darkness within! If I am satiated by your display of dark, eldritch power, I may deign to join you!"
Befriended: "Mwa hah hah! Not bad, kid... Feh... fine, I'll join you. Bring me along and your enemies will be terrified into submission. Ha ha! And another thing... If you desire to battle us Enma again, bring it on anytime! There's nothing left in the maw of darkness for me to give you, kid..."
Blasters T Camp: "You think that I, lord of all darkness, would adventure with the likes of you?"
