Biology[]
Whispocrates is the past form of Whisper from the Sengoku period. He has black markings on the sides of his head almost similar to sideburns and his wisp is colored black and tied into a topknot resembling hair and his body was cream in color instead of stark white. He also wore a yellow kimono with "#" symbols printed over it, similar to the clothes worn by Hidabat.
Whispocrates can uncontrollably release a green cloud of gas from his mouth, which causes the inspirited person to make claims on things they don't know anything about. The inspirited victim ends their claim by striking a kabuki-like pose and exclaiming, Totally legit, no foolin!' (Japanese: 間違い あっ なぁ~い! Machigai a naai!).

In Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters, the player plays as Whispocrates throughout three sidequests. He and Rudy appear in all three parts of Whisper's Whistory Lesson, where their present selves are sent to the past by Kin, Gin and Bronzlow.

Whispocrates as he appears in the game.
In his life as Whispocrates, he frequently inspirited Naoto*/Keiko*, causing the young child to tell tall tales and fibs. This led to them being ostracized as a liar, often leaving them despondent. Naoto/Keiko suspected his presence and was reasonably angry at him, for which Whispocrates felt guilty as he could not control his powers.
He befriended the legendary Shogun Waitington because his power ended up winning him battles. Knowing history had it that Waitington was going to be killed in battle, he spent all the time he could with Waitington before it was time for him to go.
Yo-kai Watch 3[]
Whispocrates can be befriended by completing the Fastidious Three Yo-kai Circle. This requires Verygoodsir, Got It Maid and Whisper.
Alternatively, he can be freed from the Crank-a-kai and Dream Roulette with a Legend Coin or obtained in Blasters T as a Clu-T-Fact from the Cluphinx Raised Paw ①.
Yo-kai Watch Blasters[]
Whispocrates is available in a hidden mission exclusive to White Dog Squad, which upon clearing, he will be automatically befriended along with Whisper.
Yo-kai Watch Busters 2[]
Whispocrates can be befriended by completing the Misplaced Lies Yo-kai Circle. This requires Failian, Whinona and Whisper.

Yo-kai Watch: Ukiukipedia[]
Quotes[]
- Blasters T camp: "Just leave it to Yo-kai Tactician extraordinaire, Private Whispocrates!"
In the anime[]

Nonuttin body shot.
Whisper's past is revealed in Whisper's Secret Past, after Kin and Gin bring him and Jibanyan to his past life under the orders of Dame Dedtime in hopes of once again changing history and preventing Nathan Adams from ever finding the Yo-kai Watch.
In the Sengoku era and sometime during his past life before his imprisonment in the Crank-a-kai, Whisper was revealed to have been a Yo-kai known as Nonuttin who frequently inspirited a young villager named Naoto, causing the boy to spout lies. News of this reached Shogun Waitington, who requested Naoto's presence so he could locate a legendary sword hidden nearby. Although Naoto possessed no such information, Nonuttin's influence caused him to claim that the sword was atop a local mountain. Predictably, the sword was nowhere to be found, and Naoto admitted that he had spoken under the influence of a Yo-kai. Waitington's monk corroborated this statement after sensing Nonuttin's presence, and after looking at a nearby waterfall, Waitington discovered that the "sword" was actually light reflecting off the waterfall.

Whispocrates apologizing.
Believing Nonuttin to be a wise Yo-kai, Waitington was impressed and asked Nonuttin to aid him in battle. Not wishing to blow his cover, Nonuttin served at Waitington's side for years, bringing Waitington countless victories (thanks to Waitington's good fortune). Nonuttin was given the name Whispocrates, and became even closer to Waitington. Having relived his past life as Whispocrates to that point, Whisper was goaded by Kin and Gin to tell Waitington to retreat from the fateful battle that would cost him his life. Not wanting to see his friend perish, Whisper admitted to Waitington that he wasn't really a strategist, but a Yo-kai who told bluffs.
However, in Waitington's final battle, Sekigahara, Waitington asked to be inspirited, because he wanted to etch his family name in the rock of history, knowing it was the end. In doing so, he also wanted to protect Whispocrates. With history unchanged, Kin and Gin disgustedly sent Whisper and Jibanyan back to their own time.
Counting from Waitington's death (1600), Approximately in 1820, Whisper was sealed away in the Crank-a-Kai, and met Nate around 2010 (Whisper was sealed away for 190 years).
Ever since, Whisper has suffered from survivors' guilt and relied almost entirely on his Yo-kai Pad to prevent himself from giving out bad advice and possibly killing Nate.
In the manga[]

Nonuttin's view of himself.
The manga begins with Jibanyan claiming Whisper is an ordinary Yo-kai with no special abilities. Nate then agrees to this, claiming that Whisper acts like a know-it-all. Whisper gets his feelings hurt and decides to resign as Nate’s Yo-kai Butler for the day. Whisper runs off, but Nate and Jibanyan follow. A truck appears, and Whisper and Jibanyan are hit by it, where they are sent back in time.
Whisper awoke, and instead of being scared, was delighted that he was in his past form. Jibanyan stayed the same, he did not change to Rudy. After Whisper and Jibanyan explore the town, Naoto steps on Whisper, claiming he stepped on a Yo-kai to nearby townspeople. Whisper accidentally inspirits Naoto, causing Naoto to spout even more lies. One of those lies was about the Fuuketsumaru sword. Some things come back to Whisper, right as he sees Naoto in distress. Some retainers are nearby and take Naoto to Waitington’s castle after hearing him rumors. Whisper follows.
Upon seeing an angry soldier, Whisper saw Shogun Waitington riding on a cow inside of the castle. Waitington introduces himself, to which Whisper is not yet familiar with. Right as Naoto tries to tell the truth about the Fuuketsumaru sword, Whisper inspirits Naoto, causing him to lie about the sword’s location.

Nonuttin getting ready to join Waitington.
After Waitington’s army searched for 10 days, he did not believe Naoto. Naoto gets the truth out about a Yo-kai possessing him, only for the angry soldier to not believe him. Wanting to help Naoto, Whisper inspirits the rest of the soldiers to show them Yo-kai do exist. Now believing Yo-kai exist, Waitington was inspirited by Jibanyan, to where he could see Whisper. Whisper is then requested by Waitington to join him in battle. Whisper claims he was the first person to make use of his ability. After Waitington asks what Whisper’s name is, he revealed it was Nonuttin. After Jibanyan leaves Waitington’s body, Waitington could still see Nonuttin. This is because Nonuttin claimed he trusted Waitington, and anybody he trusts can see him without a problem.
However, Waitington has trouble at battle. Being referred to as “Lord Indecisive”, Waitington could not make a decision at war. This is where Nonuttin decided he was going to inspirit Waitington. Nonuttin made Waitington announce rain was coming, and just as he claimed, rain came. Nonuttin claimed this was because Jibanyan scratched his face, and his belief that a rainstorm will come if a cat scratches its face. Nonuttin brought a victorious battle to Waitington because of this.

Waitington asking for courage.
Nonuttin is thanked by Waitington for his popularity and victorious wins. He then brings up the major battle coming up, Sekigahara, and his master. Nonuttin thinks he’s doing a good job because he’s making Waitington confident, instead of wise and a truly good leader.
Nonuttin then thinks about this point in history. He knows Sekigahara is Waitington’s downfall, but he couldn’t remember the name of the warlord who betrayed him. However, as soon as the battle happened, he remembered it was Kobayakawa Hideaki. Waitington urgently asks for a plan, and Nonuttin immediately advises to retreat. Jibanyan tries to mention it will change the course of history, but Nonuttin doesn’t care. However, Waitington does not agree to Nonuttin’s plan. Waitington asks for Nonuttin to be loyal, which he does, by inspiriting Waitington.

Waitington stabs Nonuttin.
After the army agrees to follow Waitington to the bitter end, Nonuttin wants to, as well. Instead, Waitington stabs Nonuttin, claiming it was his punishment for failing him in the end. Waitington thanks Nonuttin, and wishes he finds a new and good master.
Nonuttin awakens to Waitington’s helmet.
After sobbing hysterically, Nonuttin couldn’t help but reveal this was the reason why he became a know-it-all. He revealed he wanted to study on tactics and information so he wouldn’t kill his next master. Nate then summons Jibanyan, and although Jibanyan tried to take Nonuttin with him in the portal, the portal did not allow it. Nonuttin claimed this was because only the Yo-kai who were needed the most could go. However, Nonuttin shortly comes out of Jibanyan’s mouth in Nate’s house, back as Whisper. Nate apologizes to Whisper, and all ends well.
