Prison Break! Akatentraz Detention Facility (Japanese: プリズンブレイク!アカテントラズ収容所 Purizunbureiku! Akatentorazu Shūyōsho) is the 9th episode of the Y School Heroes anime series. It was broadcasted in Japan on February 28, 2020.
Summary[]
Jinpei, Sandayu and Mataro scored low on their midterms, and as of result, "incarcerated" to Y-Academy's inescapable "Akatentraz Detention Facility" for re-disciplining. Everyone there, even the poorly athletic Mataro, where force to endure the Spartan Instructors' strict supplementary lessons, which all seem to solely focus on body-building!? Unable to take the lessons which were hardly re-education at all, the trio plot their prison break, which catches the attention of another student.
Plot[]
The episode opens with Jinpei, Koma and Mataro receiving low scores for their tests, and get sent to Akantentraz. Once there, they learn from Year 2 senior Toru Tamachi about how inescapable it is, and come face to face with the Sparta Kyoshi. Mataro questions why they lack shirts, but is quickly reprimanded. Jinpei and Koma try to defend him, but the 3 are forced to do push ups, which Jinpei and Koma are able to do without tiring out, but Mataro is.
The Spart Kyoshi make them, and the other inmates, do various exercises. Thanks to their YSP powers, Jinpei and Koma are able to do most of them easily, while Mataro gets beaten up due to not underperforming. At the cafeteria, Koma and Mataro start to question their scores, while Jinpei flamboyantly boasts about his scores being low and decides to attempt to escape. They later attract the attention of Kuruse Ikuto, who reveals that he has a map of the island and can help them escape.
At night, Jinpei, Koma, Mataro and Ikuto break out of their cells, and later free Toru too. While crawling through an air vent, Jinpei farts and nearly blows their cover, but luckily the Sparta Kyoshi below doesn't notice, but the rest are disgusted. They eventually cross an engine room which they cross, and are nearly out when a huge pack of Sparta Kyoshi catch them red-handed. Ikuto is then struck by one of Haruhiko's blow darts and mutters some gibberish, and the dark aura proceeds to possess and mutate the Sparta Kyoshi. Jinpei and Koma attempt to defeat them with YSP darts but fail. Just when things seemed bleak, Momo appears and hands Jinpei and Koma their watches, who proceed to transform and destroy the Sparta Kyoshi.
Later, Mataro deduced that the Sparta Kyoshi were born out of Ikuto's desire to escape reality after failing to get full marks for a test caused him to hand in an unfinished script. After Toru tells Ikuto about how some passing remarks by him made him strive to get higher marks, Ikuto eventually decides to face reality and do his best instead of aiming for full marks.
The episode closes with Ranto and Tsutomu rewatching the footage of the skirmish, with Ranto paying particular attention to Wild Boy.
