Summary[]
Since the explusion of their manager, Kumako, the Y-Lab was shut down by the Disciplinary Committee. One such member, Haruki Hirono, joins Mataro's Tokusatsu Hero Club where they both hit off immediately, since they idolize the same hero. Mataro then suggests his transformation watch that allow those of non-YSP standards to become a hero, but Haruki stubbornly refuses. Kuka appears and says that she can make that watch Mataro longs for.
Plot[]
Kuka is back at Y-Academy again, and she visited the Y Lab, which was off-limits by the Student Disciplinary Committee, the vast space was blocked. There was a figure there, Haruki Hirono, Kuka asked him what he was doing there. He said, "After Kumako was expelled from school two months ago, the Y Lab was abolished by the Disciplinary Chairman." Kuka asked if he was going to continue his research, but Haruki felt there wasn't any way for him to do so.
Jinpei and the others gather in the YSP Clubroom. Mataro was thinking about the original special moves of his favorite tokusatsu hero "Shining Boy". There, a person who wanted to join the Tokusatsu Hero Study Group appeared. That person was, Haruki, he has always loved tokusatsu heroes. When Mataro asked "weren't you doing research with Y Lab?", to which he replied with that he was done with that, and is now obsessed with heroes. The two of them get along well because they love the same special effects. Mataro asked Haruki if he could make use of his knowledge on the "YSP Watch" at Y Labs to research the transformation watch at the Tokusatsu Hero Study Group. Haruki tells me that it wouldn't be possible for him to do so, he'd have to have the help of Kumako. Then Kuka appeared and said that she'd be making a watch, and it would be great if Haruki could help her. But Haruki refuses, saying that he is not interested in research anymore. Kuka looks lonely. An "Onryo" lurked in Haruki's hair, and this was seen by Mr. Usumizawa and Nayu.
Then, three days later, the completed watch is given to Mataro by Kuka. Mataro, using the "Shining Watch" to transform into "Shining Boy". After transforming, it looks like he is just cosplaying, but Mataro has a lighter body and more power than usual. However, according to Kuka it's dangerous for people without YSP abilities to get power, so their ability after transformation is 1.2 times higher than usual.
Mataro, who doesn't know such a thing, works well and shows off to YSP members. He shows off his special moves, impressing all of his friends with his new abilities. A very satisfied Mataro thanks Kuka, and when he gave the watch to Haruki, who was there, they talked about research again. Haruki said that "since the Y Lab is gone, he decided to quit being a researcher." But Kuka reassures him that even though the Y Lab is gone, it's not impossible to rebuild the Y Labs with Haruki's help. Nayu catches word of Kuka's idea to resurrect the Y Labs, and wonders if she needs to bring in the help of an Onryo.
Then, something strange happened to Haruki, he said that he couldn't do anything without Kumako. Kuka then exclaims, "I believed in you and relied on you." But Haruki isn't even quite sure what Kuka's even talking about and transforms into the Onryo, "Kagaku Shaman", and captures Kuka. Mataro thinks of calling in Jinpei and the others for help, but decides that it's his chance to be a hero now. After transforming, Mataro tried to fight, but some YSP members come in and also transform, trying to fight alongside Mataro. But Mataro insists that this fight is up to "Shining Boy", and that he's always admired his bravery and fierce fighting friends. That he's always wanted to be in the fight alongside his friends, instead of sitting on the sidelines. He says that they can't just take all the glory by defeating evil, and that they allow him to join the ranks of true heroes.
At those words, Jinpei backs down and suggests his friends to leave the fight to Mataro. Kagaku Shaman states that those without skill, have to rely on those who do. To which Mataro states "who decides whether you're talented or not, don't judge your own worth arbitrarily." Mataro uses a powerful move against Kagaku Shaman, doing a bit of damage to the Onryo, and he believes that he's not weak, but the strongest hero. And when Mataro attacks Kagaku Shaman, the attacks work. But that was because the YSP members had transformed and assisted him. While Mataro isn't paying attention, Wild Boy tries to defeat Kagaku Saman, but the heroes retaliate against and become trapped.
That's when Mataro comes back, Mataro faces off with Kagaku Shaman even when he's been badly beaten. He is strangled by Kagaku Shaman and loses consciousness. Then, an intense light figure appears behind Mataro, defeats Kagaku Shaman in an instant with tremendous energy. When Mataro came to, he was surrounded by his friends and they assured him that "Shining Boy" had won the battle.
On the rooftop of Y-Academy, Haruki receives a call from an unknown number. He then realizes that it's Kumako's voice on the other end of the line, informing him that she can't come back and that he should continue his passion of being a researcher. Haruki told her that he wouldn't be able to do it alone, and that he would need to have her with him, to which she replied with that she greatly believes in him.
Mataro goes over to Kuka and says that he wanted to return the "Shining Watch". Kuka questioned him on this decision, to which he decided that he wanted to train himself to be worthy of being a hero without the help of his friends. Kuka can see the fiery passion in his eyes, and smiles brightly. Mataro insists that he's going to work harder and harder, so that one day he'll be a real hero soon.
