In that Case, Special Training for New Forms (Japanese: それはそれ 特訓したら新フォーム Sore wa Sore Tokkun Shitara Shin Fōmu) is the 57th episode of the Y School Heroes anime series. It was broadcasted in Japan on February 19, 2021.

Summary[]

Jinpei and his friends decide to participate in the high school martial arts competition "IKUSA", in order to save the middle school division. In order to win, Master Zazel appears before them and offers to improve their hero power by pulling out some Classic Yo-kai from the New Yo-kai World within Earth Walker NOA. These Yo-kai must find their respective worthy partners in order to perform an "Ancient Fusion" technique. Now given new Majin Watches by Kuka, Jinpei and the gang undergo special training to meet their partner's conditions. All but one fulfil their training, because only Fubuki somehow is unable to fuse with Mermaidyn.

Plot[]

Jinpei and friends gather at the inn they're staying in, which is a very nice inn, and the group is gathered in one of the Japanese-style rooms. Mataro asks what IKUSA is about, then Ranto says that although it appears to be a group battle, the abilities of individual heroes will directly affect the battle situation. It is essential for each individual to improve his or her own abilities. Ryusuke asks if they'll recieve more training, then Jinpei says if only there was someone like their master, and Sandayu believes he'd be able to help but won't be able to do it so conveniently.

A voice calls out and asks if they called for them, and in the center of the room, Zazel was drinking tea. While eating three meals of dumplings with the Tamayo mark, Zazel says that they don't stand a chance, and to win, they need to be a rank higher, and to move to a different place to talk more. So, Zazel and the group head to an onsen and relax, then Ranto asks what the plan is, and Zazel says that there's only 1 way, but it's not easy to get power-ups, and will leave it to their teacher to further explain.

Mr. Usumizawa appeared and was wrapped tightly in a bath towel, then says he'll explain the Classic Yo-kai to them, and says that the Classic Yo-kai are, so to speak, the seniors of Yo-kai, superstar ministry. Sandayu notes how Mr. Usumizawa is more excited than usual, then Mr. Uzumizawa says that in order to gain the power of the Classic Yo-kai, it's necessary to be recognized by the Classic Yo-kai, and says they need to expand the vessels of their power. Zazel says that he means training, then Jinpei says that it's special training after all, and everyone laughs.

Zazel says that they need a watch that accepts their new powers after they've gained them, Ranto repeats back the word watch, and Zazel says that they've got that taken care of. After taking a bath, the group goes out into the hall, Kuka appears in a yukata and greets everyone. When asked why she was there, Kuka pulled out from within her sleeve the Majin Watch. Jinpei was surprised to see the high-schooler's watch, then Kuka says that it's a watch that everyone can use, and Ranto asks what she means.

Kuka says that Lime gave her the blueprints for the Majin Watch, and thought that she could make it. Chiaki wondered if that was a trap, then Kuka says that maybe there are forces that oppose Suguru's way of doing things, and Ryusuke says that the high school is a monolith. Kuka handed everyone their own Majin Watch, and the next day, the group are briefed in front of the inn. Zazel says that he's made a plan for fusing with the Classic Yo-kai, then says that it's time to summon them, and asks if Earth Walker NOA is ready.

Earth Walker NOA, who's been standing by, pulls up his clothes to reveal his abdomen and there's a subspace within. Zazel raises his right hand and tucks it into the subspace of Earth Walker NOA, gaining momentum. He grabbed a nugget and threw it out of the hole, and the group were surprised at what had appeared. Snartle, Tengu, Gnomey, Faux Kappa, Lady Longnek, Kyryn and Mermaidyn had all appeared. Mr. Usumizawa stated that they were the Classic Yo-kai, then Zazel says that he'll present them with their own challenges, which they'll have to complete to expand their capacity.

And so, 1-by-1, each member was presented with a weakness by Zazel, and by having the Classic Yo-kai who was their partner recognize their efforts to overcome their weaknesses, they succeeded in combining their initiations. Ryusuke and Tengu became Tengu the Nine, Mera and Snartle became Namahage O, Sandayu and Gnomey become Zashiki Kommander, Chiaki and Lady Longnek became Rokuro Rocks, Ranto and Kyryn became Deep Shadow Ancient, and Nozu and Faux Kappa became Bay Kappa.

Earth Walker NOA has a lot of power that flows from the Yo-kai World, and his power gets out of control which causes him to transform into Black Cat, and attacks Zazel in a fit of excitement. Zazel tells Jinpei that he has enough power, to control the tremendous power he's wasting. Zazel then threw a large piece of cloth at Black Cat, and while wrapped in the cloth, Black Cat transformed into something else.

Zazel informs him that it's a Kimono that controls the power of Yo-kai, the Nura no Ippan. Jinpei says that he feels like his strength is surging through his body and thanks Zazel, then Zazel says the he may call himself Black Cat NOA, which Jinpei seems to not like. Zazel is angered by Jinpei's response, then Jinpei says that it's the blackish look of Kengo Benimaru and calls himself Makkurokuromaru, which Zazel was confused by. In the end, by Mataro's proposition, the name they decided on was Shikkokumaru.

Fubuki angrily asks "Why not?" to Mermaidyn, who says that Fubuki doesn't trust people and that's why she doesn't want to help her. Mermaidyn says she looked into her heart and knows her past, both Mataro and Sandayu wonder what she means that Fubuki doesn't trust people. Ryusuke says that being friendly and trusting people are 2 different things, that we don't have to show each other everything and we all have our own pasts.

Ranto tells Jinpei to transform into Blue Moon and jump into Fubuki's past, which she was worried about, and Ryusuke said that it's not nice to peek into a woman's private life. Ranto says that sometimes you have to face your past, then Blue Moon uses "Mind Travel" on Fubuki, and her memories are shown. Flashback to the Himekawa house, a magnificent house with young Fubuki and her dad Hatsuaki, who looks just like her.

Fubuki said her dad's job is to make everyone happy with rockets, and that she wanted to be just like her dad. Hatsuaki says that Fubuki is smart, and she'll be a better scientist than him. Fubuki admired her father and aspired to become a scientist in the same field. But 1 day, her father was suddenly arrested for embezzling rocket research funds. Fubuki's mom breaks down in tears when her husband is arrested, with young Fubuki cuddling up to her mom.

Fubuki says that her dad would never do anything wrong, and wondered if the people at the institute make him fall in love with them. Blue Moon says that as Fubuki begins to search for proof of her dad's innocent, she recieves a phone call. Fubuki visited the research institute where her dad worked, then a man in a white coat, Dr. Yamano, her dad's boss, appeared. Dr. Yamano asks young Fubuki to take over the research of the next generation rocket in place of her dad, then says that this is what her dad would've wanted, which Fubuki hesitated on.

Dr. Yamano asks young Fubuki if she wants to know what happened, to which she decided to join the members of the institute. Despite her young age, Fubuki was devoted to the development of rockets in a friendly atmosphere with the other members, but somewhere in her mind the thought of the culprit being there haunts her. Present Day, Mataro says that Fubuki's inability to trust people was due to her suspicions that someone was framing her dad.

Fubuki says that she's been a fellow researcher, but somewhere along the way she's been suspicious of those around her. She says that during development people around her were warm, she felt like she wanted to stay there forever, then says that she can say with certainty that she's not being tricked by everyone. Blue Moon says it looks like she finally got there, and to check her answers, they then got into someone else's memories.

Dr. Yamano asks if Hatsuaki is sure about his decision, to which he reassures that it'll be fine, and Dr. Yamano says that he'll be stigmatized as a criminal. Hatsuaki says that it's possible that aliens are mixed in with the institute personnel, that this is the only way to decieve its eyes, and tells Dr. Yamano to continue with his invention. Present Day, Fubuki says that that's why she's here, then Ranto asks if Hatsuaki is here.

Hatsuaki appeared when called to, then apologizes to Fubuki, and said that he had been unable to explain for a long time fearing that the aliens would ask him about the story. Fubuki asked why he didn't call her as she wanted to see him sooner, the reason her dad didn't return home immediately after defeating Mazera was because he was afraid of meeting Fubuki. Hatsuaki apologizes once again, then Fubuki hugs her dad, saying that it's alright.

Fubuki says that she didn't have enough faith and apologizes, which Mermaidyn accepts as Fubuki has a wonderful dad. Fubuki and Mermaidyn become Ningyo Lady, which brought out the power of all the members. Outside the walls of the high school, the day of IKUSA arrived, and the high school group and the middle school group faced off. Suguru declares that the IKUSA combat-type competition is now in session.
