In her Shadowside form, Yamamba becomes a towering and very frightening humanoid Yo-kai. In this form, her hair is longer and her face is stretched to a crazed expression, she is also seen wearing a necklace with teeth in them. Her back is now hunched and gains a bigger cloak with velvet coloration at the end fitted with spikes and atop her hunched back is a large eye with yellow sclera and a black iris, which she uses to track her victims in 360° vision. Near her abdomen is her skull necklace now drooping. Near her hands and sleeves are six bluish wisps circling both left and right hands. Gesshin Tsukuyomi in the anime.
Yamanbaa debuted in M05 where her home was visited to get the Yo-kai Watch Elder Zero, where she attacked Jack Cobbler and his gang in her Shadowside form, which made them run about the old home until being eventually defeated, freeing her Lightside and Tae's grandmother, in which she rewarded the gang with the Watch.
She reappears in the near-end of the movie as Gesshin Tsukuyomi where she kicked Overseer as she was summoned, before he reformed, defeating him. She was seen giving a smile as thanks for aiding Jack and the gang.
Etymology[]
Origin[]
Depending on the text and translator, the Yamauba appears as a monstrous crone, “her unkempt hair long and golden white ... her kimono filthy and tattered,” with cannibalistic tendencies. In one tale a mother traveling to her village is forced to give birth in a mountain hut assisted by a seemingly kind old woman, only to discover, when it is too late, that the stranger is actually Yamauba, with plans to eat the helpless Kintarō. In another story, she raises the orphan hero Kintarō, who goes on to become the famous warrior Sakata no Kintoki.
Yamauba is said to have a mouth at the top of her head, hidden under her hair. In one story it is related that her only weakness is a certain flower containing her soul.
"Tsukuyomi" is based on the Shinto deity of the same name. though mostly depicted as male, and is seen as the god of the moon. Tsukuyomi was born from the right eye of the primeval being Izanagi during Izanagi's cleansing of himself during his trek into Yomi to see his deceased wife Izanami.

Trivia[]
- She was referred to -downcast- many times as simply, "Crazy Lady". The specific origin this is derived from is unknown.
- She's the first Yo-kai to change tribes between her Lightside and Shadowside forms.
- Yamambaa is the only Yo-kai to have both a Shadowside and a Godside form
- In Yo-kai Watch: Forever Friends, Yamanba's Shadowside form, Yamamba, appeared to be a fusion between Yamanba and Tae's grandmother.
- In the Chinese version of Yo-kai Watch 4, Yamamba was censored presumably to be less scary. She has a red mask over her mouth and is curiously holding her knife the other way. This second aspect seems to have less thought put into it as the knife clips out of her hand in cutscenes and clips through her feet when viewing her in the Ukiukipedia
- Strangely, Yamamba was not censored in the Chinese version of Forever Friends
