Etymology[]
Yasha Enma (Japanese: 夜叉エンマ Yasha Enma) is taken from Yasha (Japanese: 夜叉 "demon"), the Japanese spelling of Yaksha, which means demon.
Origin[]
His name Yasha might come from the Yaksha a broad class of nature-spirits, usually benevolent, or mischievous and Capricious. They are connected with water, fertility, trees, the forest, the treasure, and the wilderness. They appear in Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist texts as well in medieval era temples of South Asia and Southeast Asia as guardian deities.
Trivia[]
- At a conference, character designer Takuzo Nagano said that Yasha Enma's design were inspired by things that were considered to be "cool". He brought up a list of keywords associated with images and handpicked a few that would fit into the design such as "Fire", "Strong", "Glare" and "Red".[1]
