Yo-kai Watch World (Japanese: 妖怪ウォッチワールド Yōkai Wocchi Wārudo) was an augmented reality, location-based adventure game developed by Level-5 and GungHo Online Entertainment. It was released on iOS and Android smartphones on June 27, 2018, in Japan.
On September 7, 2022, it was announced that this game would be discontinued on December 23, 2022.
Game Information[]
The gameplay is similar to that of Pokémon GO, where the player goes out and tries to find Yo-kai to battle and befriend. Players can encounter different events whilst roaming in the real world and can send out different Yo-kai for combat. The game is developed using Unity and works using Google Maps services.

There have been many events with the game including a Puzzle and Dragons collaboration.
Discontinuation[]
On September 7, 2022, it was announced that Yo-kai Watch World would end service on December 23, 2022. On the same day, microtransaction payments for Yo-kai Balls and YD Chips were also discontinued. [1]
Eventually the app was transformed into "Yo-kai Watch World Memories", an app to see all the progress made in the main game, also serving as a medallium and a photo app.[2]

- When a Level-5 representative asked about an international localization of the game at the American Gungho branch at E3 2019, they said they had no plans to release it.[3]
- Many exclusive variants of existing Yo-kai exist within this game.
- Even though that the logo of the game is based off the western one, the game is only playable when the player is in Japan.
