The gameplay is similar to that of Pokémon Go, where the player goes out and tries to find Yo-kai to battle and befriend. Players can encounter different events whilst roaming in the real world and can send out different Yo-kai for combat. The game is developed using Unity and works using Google Maps services.
The game was announced during a public Japanese live stream on June 27, 2018.
GungHo revealed an upcoming collaboration with their game, Puzzles and Dragons.
- When a Level-5 representative asked about an international localization of the game at the American Gungho branch at E3 2019, they said they had no plans to release it.
- Many exclusive variants of existing Yo-kai exist within this game.
- Even though that the logo of the game is based off the western one, the game is only used when the player is in Japan.
