YokaiWorldArea

An central area of the Yo-kai World, called "Yo-kalifornia" in the Yo-kai Watch anime series.

The Yo-kai World (Japanese: 妖魔界 Yōmakai) is realm populated with Yo-kai of many different types, acting as an area different from the regular human world. It is ruled by the Enma Clan, who is in charge of creating all of the laws that apply towards those living there.

Access to the Yo-kai World is rather limited to humans, where those with a Yo-kai Watch are able visit as often as they like. It can be visited via a Mirapo, the Hexpress or via other transportation that has the technology to cross into both dimensions such as the Blasters Mobile. Despite that, Yo-kai are still able to visit the human world freely so they can cause trouble for unsuspecting humans.

Overview[]

YokaiWorldMapAnime

An ancient map of the Yo-kai World.

It is a spiritual place that acts as an alternate dimension, taking notes and design aesthetics from the human world such as transportation and modern architecture with their whimsical design liberties. Yo-kai spend their lives there just like humans, where they have their own home and businesses while also having law enforcement. It's stated to be the strongest world in Earth

The Yo-kai World is split into many different parts, and the overall shape of the Yo-kai World resembles that of planet Earth in the real world. Several parts are likely situated in certain regions based off real life counterparts, such as the Wiiha Resort being located in the real-life equilvent of Hawaii and New Yo-kai City in an unspecified city-based location in BBQ. BBucks are also accepted in New Yo-kai City, compared to regular Money in other parts of the Yo-kai World.

YokaiWorldEarth

A view of the Yo-kai World from outer space, appearing as the planet Earth.

Technology is known to exist and are likely much more complicated and advanced, such as video game handhelds existing as early as the 1960s before the appearance in the human world. Most technology manufactured there is by a company called Yopple Incorporated, where they create Yo-kai Pads for sale.

Holidays are known to be celebrated just like the real-world, except they have several differences to them; Halloween enforces Yo-kai to play pranks on one another rather than get treats in return. Christmas is also managed by Kyodai Santa, and picks out a specific Yo-kai to deliver presents in the Yo-kai and human world via a dartboard.

History[]

Very little is known about the Yo-kai World's origins, except that it had apparently always been ruled by the Enma Clan. King Enma, then known as Ancient Enma ruled over the realm for centuries where he had mixed views on human and Yo-kai relations. Many people attempted to fix the bonds between the two, but they have been futile. Rinne, one of the Enma Clan's sworn enemies is known to be one of them after a human girl who he was friends with, lost her life after trying to fix ties.

Main article: Yo-kai World (Location)

In Chapter 9, a small portion of the Yo-kai World is visited from a hidden elevator in Mt. Wildwood, located behind the Crank-a-kai. The part of the Yo-kai World that corresponds to Springdale in the human world was taken over by McKraken after the passing of Ancient Enma, while Lucas was hidden for his own protection.

Whisper suggested sealing all entrances to and from the Yo-kai World, including the Yo-kai Elevator. However, this forces all Yo-kai, both good and bad, to return to their home dimension until the crisis was solved. Lord Enma did not learn of this incident until after it was solved, but he became interested in Springdale and its Yo-kai's way of life as a result.

Another location after McKraken's defeat called Infinite Inferno is visited after Mr. Stone gives the character a key to open the door in the Blossom Heights tunnel.

Spoilers end here.
